New MacBook Pros Launched 411

Art Vanderlay writes "Apple's new MacBook lineup has launched with a refresh to the MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air models. As expected, the MacBook and MacBook Air both feature Core 2 Duo processors, as does the 13. The 15 and 17 models come with a choice of i5 or i7. Memory is 4GB across the board, with an optional upgrade. Additionally, the new line may include three different types of screen options: Glossy, High Resolution Glossy, and High Resolution Glossy with Anti-Glare. A second person familiar with the matter adds that at least some models will support 512GB of Solid State Drive (Flash) storage."

Do you really think the search queries of a tiny group of professionals while on a single website is going to make any difference at all?

Let's see...
Programmers as a fraction of professions in the world
x Windows Programmers as a fraction of Overall Programmers
x Users of MSDN as a fraction of Windows Programmers
x searches on MSDN as a fraction of their daily searches
= No boost at all to the market share of Bing

politics would never function to the point where a decision could have been reached, let alone acted upon.

I agree with you on global warming, but that is because it requires a concerted effort from everyone, or the majority of people on the planet, to have an effect. However, the recolonising example you gave could feasibly be achieved privately, by a small (in terms of the earth) group of people. It would not need governments or nations to agree on a strategy or approach. A group with sufficient wealth and knowledge could just go ahead and do it themselves.

I think you have missed one of the features of Google Wave, the protocol is a Federation Protocol. Which means it is not a cloud based system (although it can be, just as email can be), it is housed on your own servers just as email is.

One of the least interesting things you can do is to waste time forcing a machine to do something it's not designed for.

If everyone thought the same way as you do we wouldn't have XBMC, the best media centre software around. Hacking and Modding is all about using things for purposes they were not designed for and in doing so has brought about some really innovative stuff.

Web Rescues Un-Aired Super Bowl Ads 286

destinyland writes "A pirated version of Budweiser's un-aired Super Bowl ad appeared on YouTube — proving the Web is more democratic than NBC. The sexy PETA ad they refused to air also turned up on PETA's site; YouTube also had Saturday's skit from SNL, mocking the actual Pepsi ad that would air Sunday. But ironically, the Web site for Jack in the Box crashed right after they'd aired their cliffhanger about Jack's bus accident, prompting one critic to joke, 'Should we assume he's dead?'
