After ranting a bit, I found this nice APC product: 24 Port Rackmount Surge Supressor So I'm not as smart as I thought. But I started wondering- with my past experience designing "nuke proof" satellite systems for SDI, is a 'ground clamping' sort of surge supressor as good as a 'no way this is getting in' Cat5 to Fiber converter or Optoisolator ?
