Because I can drop $400 on a console and play every game released for it with no additional hardware upgrades needed in the future. Obviously excluding games sold for specific peripherals ( Kinect, Move). Whereas with a high end Gaming PC, if I want to run it with max specs and make it look equal to the console version there is a good chance I will spend more on upgrading video cards alone than the cost of a single console. That's not to mention the cost of the rest of the components. I am currently still running ( knock on wood, fingers crossed, etc) an original Xbox Elite. So in 6 years or so I spent $400. Show me one gaming PC that can handle all games thrown at it for the last 6 years, with no upgrades, at high end settings.

Not entirely true. 4K by 2K resolution is run over HDMI v1.3. HDMI is not the limiting factor here. The companies building and liscensing the technology are the limiting factors. You can easly run 1080P content over component cables if it weren't for the ineffective DHCP requirements.

So on the reverse it is fair to say that PCs are for grown-ups who couldn't find the stairs up out of their parents basement.

There are quite a few 1080p plasmas on the market.... pioneer has some of the most exceptional ones.... but my main gripe is about the whole "HD" marketing ploy that has managed to draw everbody in.... I write this post on a 10 year old.... yes thats right.... 10 yr old monitor that does 1080p and then some... computer monitors (crt's) have been capable of high def for the longest time.... so why all the hype now? oh yes.... good ol capitalism.... he who has the best toys wins because it put more money in our pocket.. kinda like buying a hallmark card for valentines day.
