2 hours my computer has been trying to install this convenience roll-up. I'm about to turn it off and revisit trying to get Windows 7 updated in a few weeks. Too bad.

I rather have the DTMF tones transfer to the call attendant. Skype is sorta useless when using these 'steering' digits. Of course I'm on Linux, so this product is only going to get worse.

I upgraded to 11.04 several months ago, tried to Unity interface and switched back to the classical view. Forgot all about it, until I read this article.

But where does the timezone database come from? I never gave it much thought but would have assumed that it was under the purview of some standards body somewhere. It's not. Since the inception of the database Arthur David Olson has maintained the database, coordinated the mailing list and volunteers and provided a release platform and now he is retiring. IANA is developing a transition strategy. Jon Udell has an interesting literary appreciation of the timezone database.

I've been using a VIM password file for seven years now. Just enable encryption on VIM, and it seems good enough; lightweight and works on any machine.
