Journal btlzu2's Journal: I've been banned. 14

Ridiculous. Because people don't agree with me and mod the fuck out of me, I'm banned.

Maybe you guys are right about the dot being past its prime. I think I'm finally seeing why the bitching goes on. Sorry about that, but I'm admitting my mistakes! :)

    2) wtf were you doing...ON THE FRONT PAGE *AND* IN THE POLITICS SECTION!?!?!?

    Are you insane? ;P

(I shouldn't use so many caps, it's like yelling. FUCK YOU SLASHDOT.
    • to answer question 2.... getting his ass banned? :-)
      • Heh heh. I changed subnets and it seems to be fine now. :) My ass is unbanned. AAMOF, my ass--not me--has access to at least 5 different subnets, so this should be easy in the future.
      • getting his ass banned? :-)

See, i tried this (in fact, it's about the only reason why i would ever go into that section), but apparently, either three overrated's inside 24 hours isn't enough to get my ass banned, or my ISP kicks butt.

  • ...just Barbra Streisand and Alec Baldwin. :-) One hack singer, and one bad actor, right, out you go. Now, there are a few others that I would like to tease onto that list... But, hey, the flamebait modifier was not really unfair, though I would say that it really ought to be disabled in the Politics section. If I ever read the politics section, I might care. But I think that the election results show that it is just a big echo chamber.
    • Well, it kind of sucks because I wasn't purposely baiting, but expressing anger and a counter opinion. To me, baiting is just trying to get someone mad without making a valid point. It's not that I didn't realize people would disagree, but should that stop someone from expressing himself?
      • Well, I'd judge by result and not intent, but you're right that expressing a counter opinion should not be grounds for banning (which is why flamebait should be offlimits to mods in the politics section). The problem is that some people express themselves by moderating rather than discussing. The tone of your post was on the incendiary side, but it was no worse than many posts that ended up at +5.
  • I think we should take up one of the respondent's suggestions and start up sendaliberaltocanada.com. Give out referral bonuses for giving names of those who claimed they'd move away.

I agree with Em. WTF were you doing posting something like that in a politics "discussion"? You had to expect that it was coming...
    • I couldn't resist. There has to be an outlet to vent rage over such stupid comments you hear in the news and from these yahoos--including iceholes like Streisand, etc.

And let me tell you, it was worth it. It felt SO good. :)

LOL, that's exactly the feeling the dems have over this election and why there's all the talk of Canada.

    • The big difference is the dems were allowed to vote, fair and square. I'm not allowed to speak my mind on the dot.

The talk of Canada is absolutely disgusting and it still pisses me off to no end. I can only hope that they REALLY DO IT.
      • I don't know -- I understand the frustration.

People who talk of moving to Canada (I'm one of them) are simply overtly frustrated with the direction that this country is headed. When the population votes counter to what you believe to be true (where as the population over the border is significantly closer to the ideal), it's hard to not dream of picking up and leaving.

It's not that Canada is the safe-haven for all liberals -- it's got plenty of problems. It's not that I don't think the country will co

        • Hmmm. The main thing about a democracy is that not everyone will get their way whenever they want. It's what you do when you don't get what you want. Frankly, I'm not at a perspective where I can see how someone would think this is much different from Kerry. Lies, deceipt, corruption...business as usual.

If we wanted something different we'd vote for a third party and win. If a bunch of farmers and intellectuals can overcome an empire, we can change the country the way we want to. I'm just not sure I
  • there was an alternative to leftiedot that didn't suck as much as or more than leftiedot. A few of the places some of my friends have migrated to seemed okay at first, but I couldn't tell a difference after awhile. Mod abuse and idiots prevail everywhere.

I don't mind arguing with a lot of lefties, but it's the abuse that pisses me off. People shouldn't be banned for disagreeing.
