Comment Superman is not an interesting character (Score 2) 124

A mostly uninteresting superhero. This perfect man, with perfect super powers and is all powerful gets occasionally challenged a little bit.
Give me batman or something any day. No wonder they have to keep rebooting superman, it's just not an interesting story. Sounds like this one did fine (not inflation adjusted numbers of course) cause its summer

Comment BS -- Analysts are usually wrong (Score 1) 95

Apple is not doing this stupid idea of A series powered laptop. Given Apple already is putting M series chips in iPads, it's not going to use an A series chip which wont really save any money and is less capable compared to simply using an older M chip and increase the M production volumes.

Comment One of the stupidest purchases ever (Score 4, Interesting) 62

By the time Mozilla wasted money on buying pocket in 2017, the use case of pocket was already done. During the heyday of Pocket, the hassle of using the product to get content onto a PDA had some return; once cellular data was ubiquitous and cheap Pocket was done. Whomever approved Mozilla buying this stupid product in 2017 should be forced to reimburse Mozilla. The creator of Pocket really lucked out with that acquisition.

Comment Shame they make good consumer equipment (Score 4, Insightful) 41

The slashdot comments against TP-Link are crazy. TP-Link makes great consumer stuff that actually gets firmware updates. I have used many of their units and they all worked flawlessly and continue to get firmware updates 5+ years after purchase. Do they have likely vulnerabilities, probably. There are some of their old models recently that had a couple issues. But so do all other consumer manufacturers! Before TPLink Deco, the netgear and Linksys routers I owned were buggy and un-stable and never got a firmware update after the first year.

Comment Who will use a new product from Meta? (Score 1) 18

So far, few people choose to use any of Meta products other than the ones forced to the size of their big 3 social media platform (Whatsapp, instagram, and Facebook). Otherwise, their reputation for horrible privacy concerns so far has kept people away from their new products (even their twitter clone, which is thrown in users faces with tricky attempts to sign up for an account).
