Journal banky's Journal: Clue: Marines kill people 18
I really want to kick the ever-loving shit out of this little asswipe.
He's a Lance Corporal. That means he was promoted from Private (what 99% of recruits graduate as), to Private First Class, to Lance Corporal. His statement,
"I wasn't thinking about the violence
... how my beliefs against violence would be challenged,"
is what's known in polite society as a LIE. (also as "horseshit", "cowardly sniveling shit", etc).
Maybe the Marines are different now, but when I was at boot, we used to have all these clever little phrases. Gems like:
Blood makes the grass grow, Marines make the blood flow! (when doing PT)
One shot, one kill! (on the range)
I must shoot him before he shoots me. (from the 'rifle prayer' we said every night before going to bed)
You can't get your feet off the yellow footprints without knowing, you're there to kill in the name of your country. "Learn new things"? What the FUCK is that about? Yeah, I learned lots of cool new things: how to break arms, slit throats, fire a machinegun, close a sucking chest wound.
So, LCpl Funk, you're a lying little piece of grabbastic shit. If you don't want to join the Marines, because you're not all about the killing, FINE. Plenty of people aren't into it. It's cool.
But you don't make it out of Parris Island without knowing damn good and well what your job is: to kill.
You don't stay in the Marines, even as a fucking cook, without knowing that you can be called upon to take up a rifle and kill people (that's why all Marines go through infantry training).
So clue to everyone: don't join the Marines if you aren't willing to kill someone, without hesitation. The Marines are not there to "challenge your beliefs", they're there to eliminate the enemy, and you're a cog in that wheel.
I couldn't agree more (Score:2)
Once you take the oath, you've made your choice. If killing people is so *massively* evil then ten years in military prison is more then worth it to save lives, right?
