This guy takes "moron" to new depths. Did he think the guns were for target shooting, the explosives are for real high-octane fireworks displays, and the tanks are just for extreme off-roading? Not everyone from around here is that stupid. I know people from here who proudly serve in our armed services. I also know people who share his views on war and killing who would never think of joining the military for those very reasons.
This area has a very wierd relationship with the Military. We have Bangor, Bremerton, Everett, Ft. Lewis, McCord, Whidbey, Boeing, and Rep. Norm Dicks. Then we also have the peace activists, WTO demonstrators, and Baghdad Jim.

I see no reason for this kind of thing with an all-volunteer army/marines. The guy could be dumb, as you suggested, or very inexperienced. Did he go to college? I doubt it since he's 19. Maybe he's never been away from home before.
Or it could be simply he cannot stomach the idea of his being killed. I clearly cannot respect that. I mean, I think there are several guys in the services who doubt the wisdom of this war yet know their duty and are doing it well.
