Right, not everyone wants a large vehicle. Not everyone is an automotive enthusiast. Seems that's what the big three don't understand. Some just want to get around town/to and from work. No passengers in my car. I don't care if it has a cheap plastic interior. It was inexpensive to purchase.It was cheap on gas; easy to park; easy to maintain. The 5-speed manual made it fun. I got 245K miles out of it. I have other priorities for my money. I don't need to prop-up my ego with an 8 year car loan.

No love lost in removing malaria nor the mosquitoes hosting it. But, in addition to mosquitoes being pollinators and a food source for other critters, mosquitoes are a big reason there is any jungle anywhere. Where it not for the utter hell mosquitoes rain down on humans every jungle everywhere would be a rubber plantation or a palm oil plantation or worse a big box retail store parking lot. The nasty mosquito is the greatest eco terrorist ever.

No need for any device or thing to see the bugs have buggered off. Just be lazy and, if you some space with a lawn, and freedom from a home owners association, don't cut your lawn in the spring. My lawn is half dandelion and half clover much to the annoyance of my weed-n-feed neighbours. Normally the flowering spring-weeds are thick with bugs. This year, nothing. Spent a lot of time looking for bugs in the clover and dandelions this spring. They've been there every year, in declining numbers, but this spring, zero. That's messed-up. Maybe later the sunflowers marigolds and zinnia will host some; not holding my breath.

Nothing good comes from a kid passively staring at a screen. But nobody talks about screens. The talk is all about technology. School districts pump the amount of technology shoe-horned into each classroom on the district home page: interactive white boards, document cameras, WiFi, chrome books. This not only seems to dumb down students who are already saturated with active video consumption but it affects teachers too. You should see the teachers in my district loose their shit when the projector bulb blows - even though it projects onto a dry erase board, and dry erase markers are at hand... to display the day's lesson plan: "Grab a chrome book and log into IXL". Worse yet is the district has to employ a moron like me to repair the deliberately destroyed chrome books.

Has got to be a problem for FedEx or Amazon-like delivery drivers who make those frequent stops. Worst of all for waste management workers riding outside the huge garbage truck; stopping. At. Every. House.

Vaping isn't smoking. I know many who vape daily but would never smoke a cigarette/ have never smoked a cigarette. The student parking lot at the high school where I work is awash in discarded vapes... this is in the US but it is likely the same for any high school anywhere (perhaps not the student parking lot but secondary school students).

Years ago, on a BBC radio program, a voice suggested long-term gum disease was thought to be a contributing factor to dementia. Floss; brush your teeth. It could improve your smile; freshen your breath: two small factors that can help reduce social isolation, which is another factor that can contribute to dementia. People need people.

Dumb, yes, but it serves a need. In my school district we made this game real. It's called remove the inventory asset tag from the chrome book. Before chrome books we used Dell laptops; these now sit unused in the warehouse; with all inventory tags intact. Our expensive asset tags on chrome books survive a week or two before being plucked-off. From here students advance to removing the key caps and after that they break the screens. Students remove the tags; a few years ago they simply did not do this. A game that has one mindlessly clicking away, well it's time has come.

Kinda hoping Google could force the ads on YouTube. It would be a big incentive to not go to that site. If I need info I could go to the library or talk to a neighbour. I use YouTube. I spend too much time on YouTube. I do not need YouTube. Lot of expended energy keeping those videos available. The world might be a better place without YouTube.

Yes, we do not like mosquitoes. However, in the book, if memory serves, Natural Acts A Sidelong View of Science & Nature, it is argued mosquitoes have saved the Amazon forest, and possibly others. If not for the mosquito, the Amazon jungle would be an Amazon fulfillment center.. and maybe a McD's. The tiny mosquito has kept humans from destroying some delicate ecosystems.

That 10 year old chrome book, if it is still in use, will be on its fifth screen, fourth keyboard and third battery. Nobody will want to use it.

This might be good. I watch Youtube. I do not have to watch Youtube. I didn't watch it before and life was alright. Maybe this will free up some of my day? Let this be the first nail-in-the-coffin for social media.
