Journal asv108's Journal: Why I will never shop at WalMart again 3

Today is Saturday, so it is time to get all the household chores done that I neglected over the week. So I decided to go to Walmart to pick up some laundry detergent, soap, and to get a roll of quarters for the washing machines in my building. After paying for my soap and detergent, I went to the customer service desk to get a roll of quarters. After waiting in line for 10 mins, I asked the woman politely if I could have a roll of quarters. She said, "We don't sell change!"

Considering I probably spend over $1000/year at Walmart, you think they would be able to exchange a roll of quarters for a fucking $10 bill! A store that is a "Super" Walmart that probably does around $500,000 in sales per day, cannot exchange a roll of quarters for a $10 bill.

Its amazing how customer service has collectively deteriorated over the years. Some large stores are actually not all that bad when it comes to customer service. After the Walmart incident I drove up the street to Wegmans (a large grocery store chain) and got a roll of quarters without buying anything and no questions asked.

Why I will never shop at WalMart again

  • You should have told her you wanted to return all your merchandise and then asked for your money in quarters. Then gone to another department store or large grocery store that sells that stuff and bought it there. And if Wal-mart is one of the places where you have to write a reason and sign a refund receipt when you return something, I would have written, "Customer service lady is a bitch." You have to be forceful with these people. You raise enough fuss, they'll give you a gift card. :-)
    • I was thinking of returning the stuff as I walked out the door but I would have to return to the end of the line and I was pressed for time. That would have been a great move though!
