Journal arivero's Journal: Facebook failure means no e-tap day for secret societies

My understanding, as foreigner, of the network of USA Fraternities_and_sororities and (see List_of_) collegiate_secret_societies is that some people enters the fresher ones as a way to get visibility, so carving a path into the senior ones. In this ambiance one of the initial goals of Facebook was to give an alternate way to visibility, the web-2.0ish-way. It could even be claimed to be the boldest revolution in tap days after the feminine tapping in the nineties.

Now, the opening of Facebook last year and the ulterior unusability of the whole social network due to application spam has surely sabotaged the operation.

Has it been an internal sabotage, from the own founder, because he considered he was not getting enough reward from his own visibility? Is it a revenge of computer engineers, who have their own plans for world dominance going beyond the old good Skull & Bones methodology?

During the opening of Facebook protest groups reached about 15000 members.
