So...if you do not have enough imagination to play an RPG, or enough skill to write fanfic, you can then ask an AI to make you a Mary Sue character and render it out.

I can see the appeal. Hey, I want a 3-hour movie about a network engineer who fights crime.

Of course I had to try it - short story version: Derek was a network engineer by day, but by night he donned a different kind of uniform. He was a crime-fighting vigilante, patrolling the city's streets in search of justice. One night, Derek was monitoring the network of a local bank when he noticed some suspicious activity. He quickly traced the source of the activity to a nearby warehouse and decided to investigate. As he approached the warehouse, he heard muffled voices and the sound of machinery coming from inside. He cautiously made his way in, using his skills to evade detection. Once inside, he discovered a group of criminals who were using the warehouse as a base for their illegal activities. Derek quickly realized that the criminals were using the bank's network to carry out their heists. He knew he had to act fast to stop them. With his trusty laptop, he hacked into the network and disabled the criminals' access. The criminals were caught off guard by the sudden loss of their network connection. Derek used this opportunity to take them down one by one. He fought with precision and skill, taking out each criminal with ease. As the last criminal fell to the ground, Derek breathed a sigh of relief. He had successfully prevented a major crime from taking place and had once again proven that he was a force to be reckoned with. From that day on, Derek continued to use his skills as a network engineer to fight crime. He became known as the "Net Guardian" and was respected by both law enforcement and criminals alike. He knew that his fight against crime was never over, but he was determined to use his skills to make his city a safer place for everyone.

The problem is the Riemann Hypothesis, first proposed in 1859. Rohit outlines his approach based on quasicrystals first outlined by Freeman Dyson. His audacious plan, coupled with this recent news about quasicrystals, has kicked up a storm of interest in the Indian twitterverse."

swandives writes "Australian gamers will dress as zombies to raise awareness about the lack of an R18+ rating for video games in the country. The protest will begin at Hyde Park Fountain on March 27 and lumber through Sydney, raising awareness of the need for a higher classification rating and hopefully causing a bit of havoc at the same time! Computerworld Australia has pictures of previous zombie protests in the lead-up to the event. Australia has a long history of lobbying for an R18+ games classification but, even after a decade, video games are banned from sale if they exceed the maximum M15+ classification. So far, the list of banned titles includes 7 Sins, Risen, Left 4 Dead 2 and Dark Sector. Others, like Alien vs. Predator, were initially banned but appealed the rating and are now MA15+."

The news comes as the war between IW and MW2's fans rages over the decision to go with IWnet hosting instead of dedicated servers. Unhappy players were quick to come up with hacks that would allow their own servers and various other changes." Despite the dedicated-server complaints, Modern Warfare 2 has sold ridiculously well.

Sims 3 Expansion Announced 84

EA has announced that The Sims 3 will be getting its first expansion pack on November 16th, titled World Adventures. It will be available at first for the PC and Mac clients, and later for mobile platforms. "Players can take their Sims on new journeys to famous real-world inspired destinations around the globe for the first time ever and seek out new adventures. ... From mastering martial arts in Shang Simla, China, discovering rich culture and famous landmarks on a romantic getaway to Champs Les Sims, France or exploring the depths of ancient tombs in Al Simhara, Egypt, players can take their Sims on a journey that will change their Sims' lives." EA's Lyndsay Pearson spoke further about the expansion in an interview with IGN.

Microsoft Working On Motion-Sensing Camera For the Xbox 360 68

The Wall Street Journal reports on the motion-capture technology Microsoft is rumored to be working on for the Xbox 360. "Unlike the Wii, the Microsoft camera won't require users to hold any hardware to control on-screen action, the people familiar with the matter said. The camera would sit near the television and capture when players move their hands, legs or head." The Guardian Games Blog points out that we've gotten a look at this technology before, from a company called 3DV, which was reported to be talking with Microsoft earlier this year. Many expect the specifics of this technology to be revealed at E3 early next month.

I have never used Linux. I threw it on the PS3 why? Just because. I got mame and knights on the round, internet working on it. YDL and bluetooth (ta bilbo) were ok to get working but mame didn't work too well. I have always used windows because well Empire Total War just feck a game onto it and that's it. Anti-Globalism sends us to Ars Technica for Jon Stokes's musing on the falling value of Web advertising. Stokes put forward the outlying possibility — not a prediction — that ad rates could fall by 40% before turning up again, if they ever do. "A web page, in contrast, is typically festooned with hyperlinked visual objects that fall all over themselves in competing to take you elsewhere immediately once you're done consuming whatever it is that you came to that page for. So the page itself is just one very small slice of an unbounded media experience in which a nearly infinite number of media objects are scrambling for a vanishingly small sliver of your attention. ... We've had a few hundred years to learn to monetize print, over 75 years to monetize TV, and, most importantly, millennia to build business models based on scarcity. In contrast, our collective effort to monetize post-scarcity digital media have only just begun."

While all of them work well with SSDs, as they write data more efficiently or run fewer applications in the background than XP, surprisingly Windows 2000 appears to be the winner when it comes to performance. However, no OS has yet been optimized to work with SSDs. This lost opportunity is one Microsoft plans to address with Windows 7; Apple, too, is likely to upgrade its platform soon for better SSD performance."
