Submission + - EarthHour: should I unplug my PC in case of surge? (earthhour.org)

alex67500 writes: The tree-huggers of WWF would like everyone to turn their lights off tonight, but the thing is, it concerns me. I don't own a UPS at home, and I guess when a lot of people turn off electrical equipment at the same time, the grid will have a big surge. I can use my laptop unplugged for 2 hours, that's not too bad. But what about desktops and network equipments?
