Oh, you misunderstood the point. The code governing plane controllers is written by human and we trust the human developer who wrote and thoroughly tested the code. That code has nothing to do with pilot or copilot. Your comment on pilot and co-pilot still holds in case AI might take their roles away too but I think before taking away their roles, AI will take away developer's role.

ICE prevents formation of internal terror clusters inspired by imported ideologies and imported radicalized people, just like Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has successfully prevented clusters influenced by terror networks operating in Iraq, Iran and Pakistan from forming in Saudi Arabia. 20 years ago, attack on Iran was unimaginable. With the rising gap between cost of offense vs cost of defense, it will not be surprising if US attacks China to protect Taiwan in next two decades, purely on grounds of combat-economy. This has already happened in Palestine, where razing Gaza to ashes was economically more viable than recurring cost of using Iron Dome against order of magnitude cheaper Qassam missiles.

Laws related to environment and food items are strict in Europe, that hurt businesses in food, transport, health and manufacturing sectors. Ideally, this should help Europe over the next few centuries, but not on a small time scale. For the last few years Europe has not been strict on implementing immigration policies. U.S. cherry picks among the immigrants all the time, and that too on a very controlled year by year basis. An immigrant can be a great asset and another can be a big liability. The effect of demographic shift is visible on both smaller and long time scales.
