25 years and computers still don't boot any faster. A 8MHz 128k Mac would boot in about 20 seconds. Now computers are clocked about 500 times faster and it takes 10 times longer.

I've seen a trailer for this thing previously, and I am amazed. Macintosh users have their heads stuck up their own asses so far they can lick the back side of their tonsils. It's one thing to behave like an elitist jerk with your striped tight clothes, thick-rimmed glasses, writing on your Web 2.0 blog about geopolitics while you sip a coffee at a local Starbucks and flipping the pages of a book written in French, but to make a documentary about how much of a pretentious fanboy you are - I think only Mac users can do that. Congratulations, Apple, iHateYou. Also, this will be modded "troll" because I used a politically incorrect word, and, what's worse, presented an un-hip opinion.

I think you forgot that most people on the Internet (read, people who buzzwords and websites with domains ending with "r" appeal to (also massive idiots)) treat everything on the Internet very seriously. That's why it's filled with drama, and "social networking sites" (a stunning oxymoron, watch The I.T. Crowd for a brilliant parody) are only adding fuel to the fire.

Submission + - IT job without degree? 3

adh0c writes: I have been lurking Slashdot for some time without registering and I don't think this question has been answered yet. Mainly, is it possible to get a good IT job (assuming that there is such a thing), preferably a sysadmin position without having a BS or other degree? From browsing the job postings on Monster and such, it would seem that everyone wants people with university papers (which in most cases boils down to people who were able to survive long enough to get a diplomma). Is there hope for computer enthusiasts that didn't go to college, or has the HR department taken over completely?
