Replace software possession with a cloud service in a 3rd party jurisdiction and this allows to avoid the ban. You don't have to reveal to court how you recognized a person with the use of cloud service, you can always call it luck or magic or endless hours spent watching security footage.

This is already thought of and Starlink use in Russia is banned according to Russian law 1086353-7. Uses will be fined for up to 1 million rubles. Importing dishes and other necessary devices may be problematic too because they are not approved by regulators. However the biggest problem with using Starlink in Russia may be that it doesn't currently work without land support because traffic from satellites has to somehow get to the Earth and this requires land based antennas. Russian government certainly will not allow to build such infrastructure on Russian territory.

There is a problem with investing in technology that gets cheaper every year. Why would I want to spend a lot of money on solar panels if I know that they get twice cheaper in 5 years? I'd rather wait than install them now.

Systems made for cold climate have a melting cycle to melt ice buildup from the outdoor radiator so that it would fall to the ground. Radiator temporarily heats and all buildup falls from it. I've read accounts about houses build around Moscow, Russia with heap pumps used for heating. They function happily even in -25C which is quite cold even for Moscow region winters. Of course melting cycle reduces efficiency a little, but overall consumed energy is still less than the same energy used for heating.

There isn't really any proof that Waymo vehicles are driverless, only that the driver isn't in the vehicle. If you compare a dozen dubiously driverless vehicles to a million collecting data every moment and already doing a pretty good job at autonomy, which do you think will succeed?

The fact that the driver is not in the vehicle does not mean that there is no driver.

I believe that this was figured out in the amateur observer community before NASA confirmed it. I saw it go by in my twitter feed. Not sure I can find it now...

Web pages use SVG to render vector graphics. It uses the exact same imaging model as PDF and is implemented in all modern browsers. The web in general has taken a lot of lessons from Adobe because Warnock and Geshke, in the PostScript Red Book, got so much right about how to build an image model that many GUI developers are still learning today. If you start with a PDF, it should be possible to machine-translate it to SVG and present it as a web page.

PDF exists because it is trivial to generate it from the document renderer meant for printing. Although I have once in a while run into an improperly scaled PDF meant to be printed 8-up, I'm just not
