Submission + - Australian lawyers to serve notices via Facebook (smh.com.au)

WillKemp writes: "In what is probably a world first, the Australian Capital Territory's Supreme Court has ruled that Facebook is a sufficient means of communicating with parties to a legal action. Court notices have previously been served by email and mobile phone messages, as well as by traditional paper documents. But, according to an article in the Sydney Morning Herald, lawyers in a mortgage repossession case were granted the right to serve notices on the defendents via their Facebook profiles after private detectives failed to come up with any other means of contacting them."
