The way this works out is as follows.

5. No Risk of employee flight: A Person immigrating to US on H1-B has the freedom to apply for jobs at other compaines. A person on B1 cannot do this

And if you think that only Infosys is doing this Wake up. Each and everyone of the fortune 500 companies with a branch in India has been doing this for over a decade now.

Indians have the following Option's for Higher Education.

• 1. Get a scholarship seat at Central Institutes a.k.a free seat (The competition is extremely High e.g. MDS in AIIMS has 15000+ people competing for 2 or 3 seats)
• 2. Get a scholarship seat at State college or private Institutes (The number of people competing is in the same ballpark the number of seats are around 20)
• 3. Get your degree in some Institute abroad (UK, US, Australia & NZ are currently the hot destinations. This is considered to be the easiest option and is typically the response of the Upper class when they cannot compete in #1 & #2 and in some cases this is cheaper than #5)
• 4. Get a non-scholarship seat at one of the private Institute.
• 5. Get your degree in a private institute by paying a huge donation (a.k.a Management Quota)

Typically if you have outsources your "Low skill high effort" work you are working with someone from Category 4 & 5 who could not get work in the "High skill" sector.

Phone network was down in mumbai during their protest meet in December. Their Facebook page was removed in Sept/Oct.

At a particular time during the August agitation the government was virtually under siege in Dehli with peaceful protesters turning up in front of the parliament and parliamentarian's house in large number. Requiring the government to shut down train stops and bus services to prevent protesters from gathering at the hotspots.

The attack against Facebook, Orkut, SMS etc. is the response of the party in power. They are attacking the communication medium used by protesters under one pretext or other.

I am in India and have a few friends and relatives working in USA. My observation is that in US employees consider taking long vacations to be equivalent to proving to their employer that they are not critical to the business and work can go on without them. There have been cases where when the time for layoff's came the priority list consisted of all the employees on long vacations or scheduled to take long vacations.
With employees Not taking vacations and leaves accumulating HR policies have changes in the last decade to have a fixed upper bound on the number of leaves ( I know of a few cases where people nearing retirement took year long paid vacations due to the number of accumulated leaves).
