Comment Not what the people being laid off say (Score 3, Interesting) 46

I trust the people who lost their jobs more than I trust the CEO. This layoff included a shutdown of Amazon Games. Artists, developers and managers alike. I'm also seeing AWS staff who were cut, infrastructure engineers. Either the CEO is lying, or he doesn't know what was actually cut.

I wasn't raised as a muslim. I wasn't forced to visit a mosque three times a week until I finally was able to move out at 25. I wasn't abused into believing I had to pretend to be someone I wasn't and suppress my entire personality so that Allah didn't condemn me. I don't have to listen to muslims in my government using their faith as justification for why I don't deserve human rights. These are all things christians did to me. I have every right to mock them.

A lot of people donâ(TM)t notice it because itâ(TM)s not as flashy as hardware, but Apple started an arms race with Google over their Maps product. There has been a TON of innovation from both companies in that area, purely because they created competition that couldnâ(TM)t be bought out.

Comment People repair earbuds? (Score 2) 77

I have owned many pairs of headphones in my 45 years on this planet, and I can say with certainty that I have never needed to repair a set, aside from replacing worn out padding. Usually the reason I buy new ones is because something bad happens to them, like they go through the wash, or get stepped on.

Pocket (originally called Read It Later) wasnâ(TM)t originally a Mozilla product, it was a web 2.0 startup from 2007 that eventually sold to Mozilla when the investor money ran out. It existed before browsers had reading list features built in. It wasnâ(TM)t just a bookmarking app, it archived the page for full text search. Extremely handy for pages I remembered saving but didnâ(TM)t know the title of. The fact it worked everywhere was a huge bonus, and the UI was beautifully simplistic. Unfortunately, enshitifaction claimed it like everything else. They added loads of pointless social features trying to bring in capital, and it never worked. Mozilla made it worse by shackling it to their firefox identity system.
