POLL: The Price of Gasoline/Petrol

Comments Filter:
  • About 1.2 euros/litre. That's about $5.45/gallon.
  • Same area (NE Ohio) - seems to be about $2.05 everywhere around my apartment right now.

I think Michigan prices are a few cents higher, according to my parents.

GasBuddy [gasbuddy.com] is good for finding the best prices (or prices of places around the country & Canadia).

  • Forgot to mention... a few of my friends went to Canada a few weeks after getting their car (my home is right by Detroit, so it's not much of a drive), and they would always fill up with gas there because the prices would be marked as 89 cents or something 'cheap' like that. It took them a few times to figure out that this was per litre, not gallon... (Price might be off, I can't remember what it was, but it was way below the per gallon price in the states at the time, even with the exchange rates)

    I didn'

    • or something 'cheap' like that.

The sad thing is that Canada produces a lot of oil, but at the pumps Americans can buy "our" gas cheaper than we can.
  • Bowling Green KY 1.859/gal (Swifty) Cave City KY 1.869/gal (Jr. Foods/Citgo jobber) Lincoln KY 1.859/gal (Forks General Store/unknown supplier, probably Citgo) Elizabethtown KY 1.99/gal (Chevron, Shell, Marathon, BP, and Citgo)

Most posted prices are ~91.5 cents/litre but all the stations offer discounts at the pump, generally 8 to 10 cents per litre off.
  • USA, San Francisco - USD $2.39 US Gallon, and rising...

Gas? I have not filled up my car in 2 months, and still have about 1/2 tank left. So I have no idea, last I looked (about 2 weeks ago) it was about $2 for mid grad. I bike most places now. Much more healthy then driving, most places I got are 5 or less miles away and takes me only 20 minutes max. At times this can be faster then driving at times, why. If I go downtown during rush hour (4 miles, 15 to 20 minutes) I am speeding along at between 12 to 15 mph, and the cars can only go at the fast at any time
  • $1.93/gal here, in central PA.
  • I think I paided about $2.05 in northern Illinois.

$2.33/G for the regular. I've seen anythin from $2.21 to $2.41 while drinving the town.
  • We typically have the lowest gas prices in the nation -- low taxes, good location (intersection of two major pipelines). ~$1.79/gallon for 87 octane.

    USA, Northern-NJ, $1.97 for "87".

All I know about Bush is I make twice as much as when Clinton was President.
      And pay double for gas.

Anyway, what happened? Did you finish school, and finally give up the part-time waiter's position you were holding unto?
      • by Servo ( 9177 )
Actually, I was making a statement to counter the opposite tag line people are using. I make twice as much because I busted my ass for a good paying stable job.
        • by pbox ( 146337 )
Ok, just curious. Certainly a conversation starter of a sig.
        • Hehe... I think I've seen the other tagline. I make the same now as I did during the Clinton administration, but that's mostly because I have the same job. However, I could buy a lot more when Clinton was president.
          • by Servo ( 9177 )
No doubt our economy tanked in between the times Clinton was president and GW, but I think it is dumb to think that Bush is the sole factor to blame. It is safe to say that Bush and current policies have some influence on the financial market, but it was investing in stupid dot com ventures and corporate finance trickery during the Clinton era that didn't tank until after Bush was in office that is to blame for a lot of it. The other major cause is the cost of doing business in America that is driving awa
  • Northern part of Sweden, about 10SEK/litre,which is about $1.3/litre or $4.94/gallon
  • $US2.05/gallon? try $AUD1.04/Litre that is currently being sold at my petrol station. If memory serves me correctly 4 litres to the gallon or the equivalent of $AUD4 per gallon.

collective memory is short in this world. I still remember the 70's oil shocks when everyone traded their *thumping big 5.0 V8's* for Suzuki's, Toyotas and Datuns.

We still have it good though. I've got an Indian mate who reckons they turn off thier motor bike (predominately royal enfields [premjis.com]) engines down hill to conserve fuel.

  • Location: Houston, Texas
    Usual price: $1.82.

Just three months ago it was $1.56.
  • AUD $0.948/L is the cheapest today, according to http://motormouth.com.au.

    0.948 AUD = 0.681134 USD today, according to http://www.xe.com/ucc/

So, since Google [google.com.au] informs me that "1 litre = 0.264172051 US gallons", today's lowest price here in Sydney is (drumroll, please):

    USD 2.5784 per gallon

And it will probably only go up from here on..

A budget is just a method of worrying before you spend money, as well as afterward.
