Comment Another point for Firefox and against Google (Score 4, Interesting) 52

People complained about Microsoft somehow allowing an exploit to come back. Looks like Google didn't even bother. And meanwhile, Google is reducing the info and power they give to open source devs, like delaying what the GrapheneOS people need in order to add new devices. It took months to get support for the Pixel 10 for this reason. At this point, I use Chrome for when I want a naked web experience, no plugins and all the ads or for the rare plugin that is Chrome only.

Microsoft prioritizes the use of their machines over the security. This is a known thing. Trying to think of the truly horrid problems of the past several years, most of them are thanks to social engineering, not technical failures, where Linux wouldn't have helped. It's way, way easier to be given a password than to crack a machine remotely. Then there was the CrowdStrike incident. Of course CrowdStrike is all about security. Nothing is more secure than a computer that died. I'm sure that similar could happen with Linux machines if a company gives tons of control to a third party. No, let's be honest here. There are security flaws in every OS, and Windows suffers plenty of them, but so does Linux. Does the Linux community take vulnerabilities more seriously than Microsoft does? Maybe, but I'm sure on a dollar basis, Microsoft spends a lot more on fixing up Windows flaws. They just have to make sure that every fix will not stop some obscure piece of software from going down, screwing over a billion dollar customer.
