Okay. Then to get rid of the watermark, we capture two different streams, and average the pixel and sound wave values.
The video and audio are the same, but the watermark will be filled with noise and be entirely unreadable. (Unless they have a way of getting around having two streams averaged together.)

Y'know, I realize there's a problem with people making their careers on outrage in tech. But here's the thing: Slashdot is encouraging their bullshit by displaying it prominently. If they stuck to what their user base actually wanted to read, maybe they'd actually make money for once. What a fucking shocker. So I agree that it's a problem. I just disagree with hearing about it or encouraging it at all. I'll read about the stupid fuckers on reddit instead.

Fuck you for stooping to the level of the typical clickbait peddled by the shitty news outlets. News for nerds? Stuff that matters? Is this either or the two or am I losing my mind? Give me something actually about tech. I'm taking a break from your website and turning on ads in the future.

Try Arch Linux. It gives up 1% of stability for the ability to (mostly) safely install bleeding-edge packages. Few kernel patches, super simple package management, ports system. Oh, and there's no graphical installer, so if you manage to install it, you'll know how to fix it when it breaks.

It's a distro that takes all the magic out of Linux.

The only thing that's going to wither here is Ubuntu. Because it's not very good.

I hope you guys do notice that this is slower than the average CO2 pellet rifle... if it fires at 40 feet per second or so, why wouldn't I just buy a normal BB gun or something? I could more easily just grab a 540 fps .22 air rifle for maybe $60 right off the shelf of a Dick's Sporting Goods. And what in hell does this have to do with 3D Printing??

DOJ Often Used Cell Tower Impersonating Devices Without Explicit Warrants 146

Via the EFF comes news that, during a case involving the use of a Stingray device, the DOJ revealed that it was standard practice to use the devices without explicitly requesting permission in warrants. "When Rigmaiden filed a motion to suppress the Stingray evidence as a warrantless search in violation of the Fourth Amendment, the government responded that this order was a search warrant that authorized the government to use the Stingray. Together with the ACLU of Northern California and the ACLU, we filed an amicus brief in support of Rigmaiden, noting that this 'order' wasn't a search warrant because it was directed towards Verizon, made no mention of an IMSI catcher or Stingray and didn't authorize the government — rather than Verizon — to do anything. Plus to the extent it captured loads of information from other people not suspected of criminal activity it was a 'general warrant,' the precise evil the Fourth Amendment was designed to prevent. ... The emails make clear that U.S. Attorneys in the Northern California were using Stingrays but not informing magistrates of what exactly they were doing. And once the judges got wind of what was actually going on, they were none too pleased:"
