Journal TechnoLust's Journal: Best. Christmas. Evah. 17

I had a great time with Boo's family. Her mom lightened up and I went up to her, put my hands on her shoulders and looked her right in the eyes and said, "I really appreciate you having me here." She said, "We love you and we're glad you are here... just be patient with us." She's coming around. I had another kidney stone while I was over there, but it wasn't a big one. I hurt bad enough to make me throw up, but there was no blood and I didn't run a fever (hence no infection) so I just toughed it out. Boo put her hands on my kidney and prayed for me. It was sweet. They let me sit by her on the sectional and lean against her and hold her hand throughout the entire movie we watched and her dad took pictures of us as she opened her presents.

Some of you I just sent an email to, complete with pictures. Your addresses are BCC'd for your privacy. Some of you might not get it because I can't find everyone's email address (eugene, you are one I can't find an address for). If you didn't get it and want the email, send me an email to slashdot ]at[ b e l l s o u t h ]dot[ net.

Oh, Em... I tried to send it to you, but your hotmail account choked on the pics. I don't have your "real" account anymore, so if you want to send me an email from your home account, I'll resend it to you. If you really don't care to see the pics or hear the story... don't worry, I won't be offended. ;-)

  • I understand by reading your journal that you are a devout Christian. I'm curious as to what place the Land of Israel holds in the scheme of your belief. Note that I say the "Land of Israel" in order to differentiate from the "State of Israel", because I'm talking about the significance of the land to the Christian faith.

I'm curious about it because different Christians I've met abroad have had different points of view on the matter.

Ever thought of visiting Jerusalem? Walking the Via Dolorosa and such.

    • I believe Jerusalem is very significant. A previous pastor of mine visited it. I have not visited it, but I have thought of it. When Boo and I are married, we will travel. We already have a list of places to go. I will discuss the possibility of travelling there with her.

I guess I would classify visiting "the Holy Land" as a luxury of the Christian walk, not a neccesity. I think the land still has a big part to play in the grand scheme of things.

Sorry, not a great answer, but I don't have very sto

    • I think Israel and Jerusalem specifically, holds a great place in history yet to occur. However, until the signs of the end times and a rebuilt temple, the rest of the world is where (I think) Christians should focus. What will happen over there will happen. We were not commanded to focus all our energy and time on preserving Israel. WE were instructed to go out into all the world and spread the Good News.

But that is just my $0.02

  • You don't know how worried I was about you possibly burning bridges with her parents and ruining a good thing - praise God that her mother is coming around! I had no advice for your before, but I was praying for you and her mother. Happy holidays!
  • Did it ever occur to you that you just might be putting too much of your personal life in your slashdot journal?

    I'm just asking...
    • Only during my last JE. But that why this was posted and only certain people received an email. Most of those people I have spoken to on the phone and/or met in person.

As for putting too much, I guess I feel safe since only the people I trust know my real name. Besides that, I really don't care what the majority of slashdot thinks of me. I'm hoping that someone out there will be going through something similar, stumble across my journal, and it will help them.

And believe it or not, I don't put EVERYTH

    • Well you don't have to read. These are public forums, come and go as you like.

    • It is well known that there are two types of people that keep public, online journals:

      1) exhibitionists
      2) idiots

      Author not excluded.
  • I know that I'm a little late, but I wanted to wish this one to you. I'm not a practicing Christian now (which you know from reading my journal), but I certainly support your faith as a guide in your life .
Basically, I'm just trying to say "Keep your Christian mind on track for the holidays, and don't let other relationships interfere with the one you have with God and Christ."
I know that you didn't ask my opinion, and I haven't gone looking through all your old JEs, but have you talked to your pastor ab
  • TL, this is great news! Happy Holidays to you and yours, and I hope the progress you've had with Boo and her family continues to be positive in the new year. Good Luck!
