Journal TechnoLust's Journal: I played Paintball Saturday 7

It was the first time I've played in about 2 years I guess. I went through 2 tanks of air and about 700 paintballs. We played from about noon until about 18:00. I was only shot once during a game (actually my gun was hit). My cousin shot me in the foot after the last game because I hadn't been hit all day. He was the one who shot my gun, too. The guys called me "Houdini". I was dressed in full camo, and I had a black tshirt that I had torn in half over my head (to keep any insects from falling from the trees into my hair) and it hung down about halfway down my back, and I had it frayed, so it looked like dredlocks. Then I had taken small pieces of the torn Tshirt and tied them to the edges of my face mask, so I kind of looked like Predator, but when I was in the woods, I was nearly invisible. I walk very smoothly and slowly along the brush and I don't make a lot of noise. I snuck up on several people and shot them before they knew what hit them. The only reason Matt (my cousin) shot me was because he had climbed a tree and I didn't look up that high. I thought he would be in the base with the flag, so I walked right in front of him and I was looking in the base when he shot me. I think I was the only one who had a successful flag carry as well. The games normally ended because an entire team had been eliminated rather than a flag carry. Matt almost had a flag carry, but I had their flag and I took him out on the way back.

On time when Matt was on my team, he was shooting at two guys. He was behind a barrel, and the two guys were behind bushes. I sneaked around through some briars and came around slightly behind them to their right. I had a clear shot on both of them. Matt fired a few rounds and then crouched back down. When they stood up to fire back, I rained down destruction on the closest guy. He jumped into the bushes and yelled, "Where's that coming from?" The other guy started firing into the bushes and then yelled, "I'm almost out of paint, let's retreat!" When the guy closest to me rose up to run, I lit him up. Matt had been belly crawling toward them while I was firing at them, so he was really close. He stood up and took out the other guy.

We play if the ball doesn't break, it doesn't count. I snuck up beside one guy, and he was laying in a prone position, looking toward our base. I snuck all the way down the other side and came up beside him and lit into him. He yelled hit, and then looked down. He said, "Hey, it didn't bust!" I said, "You want me to shoot you again?" He said, "Uhh.... I'm out!" and held his gun up and walked away. :-)

On the last game, I snuck all the way to the other team's base without anyone seeing me. I was standing about 30 feet away as they were discussing plans, so I knew where they were all going to go. Matt was hidden and the other guy kept looking at him when he talked, so I knew where he was. I took Matt out and then went after the other guys. But I ran out of air and since I didn't have any more I had to quit playing.

So we had a lot of fun, but it was REALLY COLD. I had on two pairs of pants, two Tshirts, a sweatshirt and a jacket, boots, and my head was covered with the torn Tshirt and a mask. I was still freezing everytime I stopped moving. That's probably why I kept moving all the time. It was good to be able to play again, and the guy that organized it all lives out in the country and has several acres. We were playing on his land and he has it set up to be a permanent thing, so he'll start playing about every month I guess. I'll try to play when I can, because I do love the game.

  • Paintball is some fun stuff, esp. if you play with a good bunch.

I remember the last time I played, there was a squad of 12 yr olds with H00J Frickin' semi-autos! (I was using the place's rental Pirhana's...complete with bad aim!) These kids just frickin' took EVERYBODY out. I had no problems trying any poorly thought out ambushes, because these kids had my rear- if I got shot whoever killed me met a hailstorm of pellets.
    • Out of the entire bunch, I was the only person who didn't purchase their equipment at Wal-Mart. Many of the bought it the day before or rented it. They were all friends, and I'm friends with the guy that hosted. When I came in, they all said, "So, have you played much before?" I said, "I've been in a few tournaments." They were all like, "Woah, cool!"

  • was one time in a tournament, I was gaurding our flag, but instead of being in the hut with the flag, I was about 15 or so yards into the weeds behind the hut.

When the opposing team went for the flag, they fired some shots at the hut, and of course, the people approaching from the other side thought that the shots were from inside, so they fired back.

I'm not exactly how long they fired at each other wondering howmany people were in there shootting back, but eventually someone wised up and went for the flag,

  • I've never played paint-ball, but I have been in the army for 3 years and still am an active reservist. The stories here reminded me of an intense moment on the ground.

It was several years ago, I was posted somewhere in the Gaza strip. My job for the night was to hold a small dug out till morning. I was alone and a couple of hours passed quietly.

The night was a bone snappingly[made up word] freezing one, perfectly clear and crisp.

I had positioned myself behind a couple of bushes with some sandbags and a
