Journal TechnoLust's Journal: Glad to be away from the small town drama... 17
Chris talks a lot about the differences in Tampa and our small town in TN. He said in Tampa, everyone didn't grow up there. See, we're "outsiders" because we didn't grow up where we live. 95% of the people there grew up there, their parents may have grown up there. They all went to school together. The thing he hates about it is that everyone knows what's going on. I don't care about people knowing my business, but I hate it when someone doesn't like me for no other reason than because someone they have been friends with since Kindergarten doesn't like me. Especially when that person grew up to be an inconsiderate asshole. Point in case:
A while back, I was hurrying to meet someone at Ruby Tuesday and I was driving down the 4 lane. Now, it's a 35 mph zone, so if someone's driving 35, I don't mind being behind them. If they're driving under 35, I can pass them because most people do 45 or so. So I'm on my way to Ruby's and there's a Blazer driving about 10 mph in the left lane. He has the window rolled down talking to a black Chevy truck driving 10 mph in the right lane. OK, you were driving and saw someone you haven't seen in a while and wanted to say hi. I can understand that. I pull up behind the Blazer and he's not speeding up. Ok, maybe he didn't see me. But come on, I've been behind you for about 3 minutes now. Finish up or pull over or get his cell number and call him later. So I blow the horn. They roll the window up and the blazer increases his speed. I start to pass the truck so I can be on my merry way. The blazer waits until I'm close to him and about to switch lanes and he slams on his brakes and I have to slam mine to keep from slamming into him. Ok, you wanna brake-check me, asshole? So, I wait until I can pass the truck and pass the truck and then the blazer. I look over and he's yelling at me through the window, so I flipped him off. I pull up to the red light and he pulls up beside me. I roll the window down and he's like, "Why are you riding my ass?" I said, "I was trying to pass the truck. Why did you brake check me?" He said he didn't and said I wasn't trying to pass the truck, I was just trying to piss him off. Then he told me that he should get out of the truck and kick my ass. I told him to get out then. He said I was luck he had his girl in the car with him. (I think he was the one who's lucky... let's just say that when I'm in my car, I'm in a position to not be fucked with.) So, I went on and forgot about this.
New Year's Eve, I met this girl. If you are one of the TMI people, skip the next part in italics and just suffice it to say, she came back and we shared some moments and we really liked each other, so were "talking". For everyone else: She came back the next night and I was looking at her ear piercings. She had her tragus done and the industrial. Her industrial was infected and she asked me if my tragus had gotten infected. I told her yes and that I'd had to lance it and let the infection drain out and then clean it with peroxide. She asked if I would clean it for her. So I did. She ended up spending the night and slept in my bed. I found out she had her nipples peireced and her clit. At first I thought I was just going to fuck her and that was all it was going to be. We ended up laying in bed and talking and then we'd mess around for a while and then talk for a while. We stayed up most of the night talking. Then she had to go home and get ready for work. I said, "I'd ask you not to go, but I know you have to. I had fun." She said she had fun too and wished she could stay, but needed to get a nap before work, since we weren't getting any sleeping done.
So I told her that I didn't want a girlfriend right now, but there was something I liked about her and we should spend more time together and see if something happened. She agreed and said she felt a connection to me and would like to see what happened. That night was the night before I was to leave to start my job in Atlanta. I was trying to get her to stay, but she needed to go home and get some rest. So we're in my bedroom talking and had the door locked. Chris and [Black TL] were wanting to see me, so they came and started banging on the door. She'd been telling me about some really bad experiences with a violent ex-boyfriend right when they did that. It made her have a panic attack and she said she was sorry and ran out and left. I was upset and thought she'd not want to come over anymore.
She called me the next day and we talked about it and she told me more about why she acted the way she did. She called every night that first week and we talked for a while each time.
Then I went back last weekend and she was out with friends. One of them happened to be the guy at the red light. I'd heard her say he had been convicted of something and had to go serve some time in jail. yeah, he's an asshole, but that sucks. I decided to extend the olive branch and try to let bygones be bygones. I went to him and told him that I was sorry he had to serve time, it sucked and tried to tell him I wasn't mad about that stupid shit at the red light. He said thanks. I started talking to the girl and he said, "hey, could you do me one favor?" I said, "sure, what is it?" He said, "Don't ever fucking talk to me again, because I don't like you." I told him he didn't know me. He said, "Yeah, but I almost kicked your ass at the red light that night." I reminded him that he was the one that wouldn't get out of his car.
I avoid violence whenever possible. I used to back down from assholes like this. But I've been out of work and low on cash, and I realized that if I don't stand up for myself, no one will. I've noticed in that small town if you let one former HS bully who never grew out of it punk you, the rest will seek you out. So I stood my ground, but didn't initiate anything. I felt the tension growing and I knew if I didn't walk away, it was going to come to blows. I said, "Whatever dude, be an asshole then." and turned to girl and said, "I'm going to Ruby's to meet Chris and [Black TL] if you want to come. Just txt me or give me a call." She said ok. She kept txting me all night asking where I was and when I'd be home. When I finally got home, I told her just to come by whenever. She never showed up and I haven't heard from her since. The next night Brandy was having problems with her boyfriend and wanted to talk to girl, so I let her use my phone to call her. She didn't answer and didn't call back. So I txt messaged her telling her what was going on and saw that it was delivered, meaning her phone is on. She never called or txt msg'd back. I can only imagine asshole told her not to talk to me anymore. She said he's a friend, like a brother to her because they grew up together. She doesn't like his girlfriend, but tolerates her because he's her friend. Apparently he won't show her the same consideration.
I told Brandy this and she thought I'd be upset because she knew I liked her a lot. But if she's the type of person that would give up whatever could have been because her friend is an asshole, she's not the caliber of girl I'm looking for. Now, I may go back and find out that something happened and she couldn't call, but it's been a week and she hasn't tried to contact me, so I doubt that's it. In any case, I'm meeting people in ATL, and I see me moving down here permanantly if the job situation holds, so I need to find a Georgia peach.

Damn. I forgot they're surgically implanted.
Anyway, your conclusion strikes me as about right. If she ain't willin' to be with ye, she ain't worth it. There are other women around on this world, some of them even on Slashdot, amazingly enough (in spite of my best efforts to rid us of one of them). Surely one of them will be worth your while, if you're patient and confident enough.
