Journal TechnoLust's Journal: Al Green at the Tennessee Theater tonight. 4

Chris and LeAnne are huge Al Green fans (and Otis Redding and lots of other older "baby-making" music). So Chris and I went to Knoxville a couple weeks ago and met up with Jennifer and had some lunch, then I hit the liquor store to get some hennessy for [Black TL] for his birthday. While I was in there Chris picked up a free paper that has ads for all the events coming up. He noticed that Al Green was going to be at the Tennessee Theater. He wanted to take LeAnne, so we came home and used my credit card to order tickets online.

We wanted to keep it a surprise from LeAnne, so we told her it was Alvin and the Chipmunks. I even made her a little poster that has a pick of Alvin and says, "We love you Alvin!" to take with her. (She knows it's not The Chipmunks, but it's like a funny running joke we have going.) So they just left and she's so excited. They are going to a jazz club downtown to eat, and drink some wine, then to the concert.

I asked Chris if he was excited. He said, "You know me, I don't get excited." I said, "Well, Mr. Unexcited, you forgot to take the tags off the new shirt you bought for something you aren't that excited about." He started laughing and said of course he was excited. I'm glad I was able to help him do this for her. He didn't have the money or a credit card, so he's paying me back as he can. It's weird how good of friends we are now, when this time last year I didn't even know him.

I'm going out to eat with Patrick tonight and then there's a going away party at Wes's house for Lori because she's moving to another restaurant. I need to go by and see Jennette, she called me today to tell me she was doing ok after breaking up with her boyfriend. Her sister has been trying to get us to date, but she doesn't need to jump into anything soon. She's from Columbia and one of the most interesting girls I've ever met. She's also one of the sweetest. It really pisses me off that he cheated on her and lied to her saying he wanted to be with her, when he knew he would hurt her. I hate guys like that.

Anyway, I'm doing ok, but I'm about to have to tap my retirement funds, unless I can show President Bush Chris' room and have it declared a Disaster Area and get money and food from the Red Cross. Josh is checking on the hold up with his people, and that job that Slashchick recommended is about to take off, but it's not going to be much work. Of course every little bit helps.

The good thing about not having a large disposable income at this time of year is that I'm not buying all the things I want, so when my family asks what I want for Christmas, I can now tell them this: Red Dwarf, Mystery Science Theater 3000, and Firefly. I've been wanting to get those for a while, but didn't have the time to watch them before, and now I don't have the extra cash. I think I'll be spending more time indoors when (if?) I ever get to Cincy (especially with winter coming up) so I'll have to have something to watch. Ok, I know it's only September, but I bet my mother starts asking for Christmas hints before October hits.
