I have a 2-year contract. There is a penalty for early termination. I am not month-to-month. I have multiple lines on that contract. Most of the lines are on limited data plans. One of the lines is "unlimited". Perhaps somewhere in the contract fine print Verizon has reserved the right to change my plan (e.g. changing the definition of the word "unlimited") during the contracted period (2 years). But, if so, I haven't seen that text. Perhaps they can cut my service at any time. However, it appears to me that they are unilaterally modifying the terms of my contract mid-term (not at the end of a month-to-month contract). I'm sure there are other users in that boat as well.

It appears that it's probably not capable of transitioning from vertical takeoff to full-speed forward flight. Its VTO capability is limited to VTO followed by a short distance low-speed flight followed by vertical landing. This capability can be used to reposition the aircraft from a landing position where STO is impossible to a position where STO is possible. Attaining full-speed forward flight requires STO.

Submission + - Wired: Transcript of Silk Road's Boss Ordering 5 Assassinations (wired.com)

BenBoy writes: From Wired: Many of the ideological supporters of the Silk Road have described its sprawling online black market for drugs as an experiment in victimless crime and a nonviolent alternative to the bloody turf wars of the streets. But prosecutors in the trial of Ross Ulbricht, the 30-year-old accused of running that anonymous bazaar, have pointed to one conversation they say shows the contrary: That the Silk Road’s boss was willing to resort to the drug trade’s most violent measures when it suited his needs.

Submission + - Novel Fluorinated Compounds Discovered in Firefighters' Blood (acs.org)

ckwu writes: Perfluorinated compounds help firefighting foams rapidly flow over flaming liquids such as gasoline and jet fuel, cooling and quenching fires. But despite environmental scientists’ concerns about these possibly toxic compounds, researchers don’t know the identity of many of the chemicals in the mixtures on the market. For the first time, a new study borrows a medical research tool to pinpoint fluorochemicals in the blood of firefighters, identifying novel compounds that have never before been publicly reported.

Report Claims Iran Has Data To Build a Nuclear Bomb 630

reporter writes "According to a startling report just covered by the New York Times, 'senior staff members of the United Nations nuclear agency have concluded in a confidential analysis that Iran has acquired sufficient information to be able to design and produce a workable atom bomb.' In 2007, American intelligence erroneously concluded that Tehran in 2003 stopped further research into designing a nuclear bomb. This conclusion was contradicted by German, French, and Israeli intelligence. Recently, London also concluded that the American assessment is incorrect. So, here we are. The Iranians have the knowledge to build a nuclear bomb and have been working relentlessly to perfect its design. Tehran is apparently able to create the components (e.g. enriched uranium) that can be assembled into such a weapon. Meanwhile, Jerusalem is communicating with the Kremlin about a list of Russian scientists it believes are assisting Iran's efforts to develop the bomb."
