Exactly. It isn't even an issue of wanting to play online or not. It is all about wanting to hang out with friends and play games with them. What ever happened to that? I love playing online, but I also really love hanging out with some friends playing some co-op and maybe throwing in some pizza'n'beer in there as well. Hard to get pizza and beer over the interweb. I think that developers have largely neglected non-networked multiplayer games. Even Ghost Recon had a split screen, but it just plain sucked. I hope GoW has started a trend.
