1) They do a hell of a lot of trials on GM plants. They do a hell of a lot of trials on plants period, but more on GM plants because additional agencies are involved in oversight.

The outcome depends on how the trials were done. Look up what happened with Klebsiella planticola SDF20. It was supposed to produce ethanol from crop waste, but when it was added to real agricultural soils, it killed most of the plants, beneficial insects, and beneficial bacteria, and helped pathogens thrive. It was also very competitive and stayed in the soil for a while. Its effects wouldn't have been noticed if the test had used sterilized soil, as was then common.

Submission + - Google is testing Airborne Camera Drones (www.wiwo.de)

mbone writes: According to the German language site WirtschaftsWoche (an English version is available from the IBTimes) Google has purchased a German "Microdrone" for evaluation. These devices can take off, fly a mission and land automatically using GPS, and can carry night vision cameras or even "see through walls" Far IR cameras. Of course, the maker of these drone assures us that they cannot be a "Big Brother der Lufte" because that is "verboten."

Is it just me, or is Google entering into dangerous airspace here ? It seems like the ruckus from a backyard-after-dark addition to Street View could make the legal tussles Google has already encountered with the driving vans seem minor by comparison.

What abject reality? What do you know of religion? That which you rejected as soon as you could? Even a little bit of googling would tell you that "a sky fairy where most people burn for eternity upon their death" is the viewpoint of extremely few religions. No wonder people reject religion, faced with the prospect of eternal damnation.

It gives your customers something to chuckle over during traceroutes too. Why settle for letting them discover they traversed v11s0p1.dal01.blahblahblah.net, when you could let them know that they went through thebeast.bbb.net or ratbastard.wehateourjobs.com?

Which is why a traceroute on the University of Houston network returns Elagubulus, Caesar, Caesar-jr, and Titus Flavius.
