Journal Some Woman's Journal: It was the most amazing thing 10

Went to the video game store. Video game store employee was knowledgeable and helpful. I bought an N64 to replace the one that was lost in a power surge. For $15, why not? Now if only Sony would hurry up the development of the Playstation 3, so that I could get me a $15 Playstation 2.

Poll: Girl Scout Cookies.

Do you have a box of Girl Scout Cookies in front of you? Go get one. Where were they baked? (This information is on the side of the box below the ingredients.)

A. Little Brownie Bakers
B. ABC Bakers
C. Oh, how I yearn to be able to taste a yummy tagalong (I have previously enjoyed Little Brownies cookies.)
D. Why would I pay $3 a box for mediocre cookies that I could buy at the grocery store? (Girl Scouts in my area sell ABC cookies)

It has recently come to my attention that my insistence that Minnesota cookies are gross is not a hallucination.

It was the most amazing thing

  • The girl and I tore through a box of Tagalongs this weekend. Made by Little Brownies out of Louisville, KY. Yum. Gawd they're good.

I still prefer Samoans. Those are my faves.
  • I have those Little Brownies making cookies for me in Raleigh, NC. I haven't taken the time to learn the new names of the cookies yet, they'll always be carmel delights, thin mints, and shortbreads to me. Yum!
    • Welcome to the light side. They are still Thin Mints. The shortbread cookies are tastier when called Trefoils. You would do best to abandon your wayward naming scheme at once.

The difference between the two bakers is most striking when it comes to the Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties. I independently verified this in a poorly designed taste-test last week. My friend had her ABC Peanut Butter Patties, and I had my Little Brownies Tagalongs. I figure that everybody needs a pet cause...
  • Samoas and Do-Si-Dos are also trademarks of the Little Brownie Bakery. Caramel Delites and Peanut Butter Sandwiches, respectively. They also call their shortbread cookies Trefoils.

It's a bit annoying that the cookies are so different. Having switched coasts, I care less for the peanut butter patties, and the caramel delites don't seem as good.
  • Around these parts, they're done with this years drive, but cookies had been selling for both $3 and $3.50 [nbc10.com] depending on which baker [girlscouts.org] made them. Various local news [ledger-enquirer.com] outlets did reports about it seemingly because the price difference irritated folks. *Shrug*
  • I think it's LB, because we have Samoas. They're good, that's all I know. If there are BETTER cookies out there, I don't want to know about them. :-)
