Journal SolemnDragon's Journal: On Being Doctored, part the First 19

Bah. Med update to come next. More on the Olympics later.

So i'm going in to be doctored, got the usual laundry list of stuff to go over. No idea whether i'll be playing sol-go-feed-the-vampires this time.

Woohoo!

*sigh*

So, solemndragon, why are you bothering to write this entry?

Well, that's easy, silly wabbit. I'm the designated decoy- i am pretending to have the day over here... see, lookie, i got the day!!!!... while FK grabs it, muzzles it, throws it in the trunk with a pair of makeshift cement shoes, and speeds for the harbour.

Actually, this entry is because i wanted to take a look at a few of the things that have changed over the past year. Part of today's doctoring is annual check-up stuff. So, looking at my life, what's new?

Let's see... my health is at least more stable.

My kitten is resting too much and not playing enough, i gotta get her to work out more.

My weight now has five extra pounds, which i'm not in a hurry to lose though i'd like to convert them to lean muscle mass.

Mum's almost done with chemo.

Best Friend is in... PA? i'm guessing. She's away on Yet Another Trip. Best Friend and i don't get much time to socialise any more.

New telephone arrived yesterday. I'll figure out that nifty answering machine part next- then i'll have an answering machine that leaves credible messages, too. (Right now, i have the twist-o-matic. If you leave me a message telling me you'll be in town sunday at noon for lunch, it will write this message down very carefully and give it to me when i get back. Of course, what the paper will say is, "Called to say will be hangliding in from hula course, octane 8, Captain Crunch. Got breadbother and will be pixie-ing up the fairway. 3 PM. Bring size twelve shoes."

My answering machine and i have had long discussions about this sort of behaviour, but there isn't much that i can do. So i'm glad to have the new one.

Anyway, other things that have changed in the past year...

-pirate party's cancelled again
-so is the DOD dinner, because i'm just NOT up to hosting a dinner party in my current condition.

-That four litres of vodka in the fridge
-the clutter in my apartment's a little deeper.
-i have a couch
-and coffee tables.

-i'm up to an alarming number of plants. Monster's been hacked down to ten long trailing vines, the longest being 30 feet. However, i'm up to 10 other philodendrons. Almost killed the aloes and the jade plants with overwatering, though. Can't ever seem to get that right.

-I'm almost 28.

-got the website, though it's not got content, and the store, equally devoid of content. Hm. Well, it's a start.

-went on a date (thank you, OFT, for flying to Boston for the occasion)

What else is new over the past year? Went on my first real vacation. (the world did not end.)

Anyway, my brain hurts, so i'm going to come back to this subject later. With a med update.

  • Pirate Party? DOD dinner?

    Sounds like Defcon.
  • Best Friend is in... PA?

I could set a trap and catch her on the way through - bring her back, and all that. Maybe send her FedEx?

Maybe just build a trebuchet..... can BFOTD fly?

    • she can swim. She's an amazing swimmer. i don't think she can fly, though. Offer her a ride in the trebuchet, see what she says.
  • My kitten is resting too much and not playing enough, i gotta get her to work out more.

Sheee, make that kitten get a job. Start pulling her own weight around the place! I'll bet she doesn't even pay rent, or chip in on food or anything!
    • Sure she does. She keeps the place miraculously free of... er, well, she always cleans the... no. Well, she never... ...she eats, sleeps, and is cute on demand. She is snuggly and makes me feel like i'm doing something for some other creature than myself. And she beats me up regularly as well as giving me the privilege of feeding her and cleaning up after her.

O, the joys of servitude! how i love the furry commander of my existence! I may go to work? OOOh, may i? How gracious, your highness! I may clean the
      • Oy. Her highness really IS spoiled rotten.

As all kittens are, and we lovingly put up with it because they're just so damned cute :)

Still...she should at least have a paper route to buy her own catnip!
      • She keeps the place miraculously free of... er, well,

I'm sure she is doing a remarkable job of keeping the place free of lions and alligators. Have you seen any lions or alligators since you got the kitten? If not, then she is doing her job! ;-)
  • went on a date

    • "chime chime"yes i went on a date with an amazing individual on the 4th of july and enjoyed fire in all colors and raining ash in a new city.normaly if someone asked i would just smile and walk away but sence you are friend of the dragon you will be privilaged with "SOME" details.appropriate questions may be answered.commence the Questioning!
      • Yay!!! He finally speaks up!

I'm not going to ask specific questions. I like to let people offer up information of their own volition... with a little prompting, I suppose.

Sol wrote about 4th of July... now I can go back and re-read and make my own inferences. :-)

When I asked the florist about this, upon buying another set of african/persian violets for my sweet, after having killed the previous ones through...overwatering...I was told that the best method is to use these special flower pots. Unfortunately, I can't recall the correct NAME for them, but basically they are two nested pots, kinda like a double boiler. The inner pot, in which the flower and soil g
