Journal SolemnDragon's Journal: Would da good dragon wanna go to da hospital?? 12

Well, too bad. This one got nipped in the bud by two benadryl. I HAVE NO IDEA what i am reacting to.

I didn't eat anything new.

How can i be having an allergic reaction when i didn't eat anything new?

And then my face got prickly and so did my tongue, and i started to swell, and i got to go take benadryl, and my face is starting to unswell now, but this is definitely not my imagination, and i don't know what i'm reacting to. I ate leftovers from last night, for lunch, and didn't have a reaction last night!!! This one is more like the first two, where i got rashes rather than just swelling.

I'm starting to think that allergies are the universe's way of just yanking your chain a little. Oh wait, that's minor league hockey. Sorry.

Anyway, I have not had to go to the hospital, but am very dazed and confused from the allergy meds, not to mention the chaos of having Yet Another Reaction. Maybe it's something i'm coming in contact to in the lunchroom. It's gotta be something. People don't puff up for no reason.

This is funny, the way anvils falling on coyotes is funny.

On the bright side- confirmed my appointment, which will be next thursday at 2 PM, giving me another week to get clean from the benadryl. Which is what it's gonna take, since every time i get it out of my system, i react again. (Maybe it's something i'm continually eating, like dairy, that i just react to when the benadryl wears off???)

Gah. This is frustrating. I'm going back to eating rice tonight, at least i know it's safe.

Would da good dragon wanna go to da hospital??

  • Allergies are your immune system over-reacting. It is not only possible, but probable that you've over-sensatized yourself to something that you eat all the time. High stress levels followed with some sickness or medication can lead to sensatization. My dad ate so many raisins throughout his life that he became allergic to them when he was in his 30s. Same thing can happen with bee stings. Someone who's been stung occasionally their entire life, can suddenly become allergic if the bee sting poison anti
  • that your allergy is not to foodstuffs? Maybe it is something in the containers you are using? Look at everything that has changed, from cleaning products, to clothing, to food packaging, etc. It could be something you have touched and then you touch your face and bam! Could it be blinder's cleaning products?

I really hope you find out what is causing this. 8-(
  • Hmm... since it was leftovers... maybe it's not what you're eating, but what you're eating on. Perhaps something as innocuous as dishwashing detergent residue.
  • You are allergic to Blinder!

Dave, quit breathing near the dragon!!! ;)
    • OK, even I'm sick of this one. It was perhaps a bit amusing the first 10 times or so. I can't imagine Solemn thinks its remotely amusing at this point. At least one reason why is because you CAN become alergic to people and pets. When I was a kid, I had chronic coughing fits for months all of a sudden. After trying a bunch of things they finally got rid of the dog. The dog that had been around since before I was born, that I considered my dog. I fell for the old "we sent her to live on a farm" line.
      • Hey, I haven't been reading the past allergies ones, so I didn't know its been used. I hate being in a long line of stupid jokes, so my apology.

The answer is obviously not edible as everyone has said... most like detergent or new soap or something like that. Gotten a gift lately? New clothes?
        • I had suggested that she might have unearthed a long-forgotten dust bunny colony or something, since she's packing to move. I didn't get an answer on whether or not is was definately something injested.
  • You sure its not an environmental response to the new place? your still packing/unpacking stuff yea? Maybe some random spores that only work every other day or something?
  • This is funny, the way anvils falling on coyotes is funny.

Bad example. I really did laugh out loud when I visualized an anvil falling on a coyote. Must be an odd childhood memory or something.

“People don't puff up for no reason,” said the dragon. Must be magic, then. Sorry, that was horrible. I’ll go stand over there now.

"Ha ha" funny or "stabby" funny?
"Ha ha" funny. *wipes away tears*
  • Have you considered airborne allergens such as Ragweed?

At this time of year I spend a lot of time hiding indoors away from Ragweed (Ambrosia aratemisiifolia and Ambrosia trifida). I am fairly sure the latin names are meant to be said with extremely heavy sarcasm. Ambrosia indeed!

Depending on the weather, some days I get by just fine without any help. Other days, ugh, Zyrtec + decongestants + Flovent + Proventil keep it just unbearable, instead of life threatining. The pollen levels rise and fall dram
