Are they also measuring the quality of the output? Sure, you can replace a customer service call center with chatbots, and that may be a cheaper option for the bottom line, but in terms of the experience you are delivering to your customers - it will be much worse. Every time I have to go through several rounds of trying to convince a chatbot that they are not going to be able to help me with my problem and no I don't want to check my balance and that I need to speak to a human, by the time I get to speak to the human I am already incensed.

"Robot" seems like kind of poor choice of words here IMO. When I think of robots, I think of hardware performing physical tasks in the real world like a roomba or a spot welder on an assembly line, not software "agents"... and putting a scanner in the stock room, having people scan barcodes when they remove items from stock and having it update an inventory database is not exactly a new concept and doesn't require AI or a "robot".
