Journal Short Circuit's Journal: Car Change? 13
My car is a 1991 Plymouth Voyager, and I need to replace it. I would be shocked if someone wanted to pay the $675 trade-in price for it. It leaks oil, power steering fluid and transmission fluid. It has a severely cracked windshield and no center rear-view mirror. The paint started peeling about ten years ago, and there's a lot of rust. The engine doesn't have much compression left.
For the replacement vehicle, here are my requirements:
- Good gas milage. Better than 20 mpg is a must. 25+ preferred.
- Cargo space, either in the vehicle or on a trailer. My car is usually used to haul our garbage to the dump. To this end, I took out all the removable seats.
I'm looking for suggestions...

You lose the cargo space, but for the price of the Honda, you could keep the minivan for garbage runs.
My civic gets around 38 - 40 mpg. This has saved me aproximately 1500 gallons of gas this year, or roughly $3000, which is less than what I'm paying per for the car.
