Let me guess you have zero background or degree in any scientific field? Yet you somehow think you can judge better than scientists that spend their lives studying climate. I trust the fact that almost every climate scientist agrees with what is going on right now and that this is a real danger to us as humans. I'd trust people who have spent their lives doing actual science on the subject not some idiot on Slashdot.

I thought the consensus was that we were all going to roast alive by next tuesday. seems every day we hear "it's worse than we thought". In fact every headline says that, and has said that for many years now. At this point we're supposed to believe it's so bad that there simply can't be a "worse" than we already thought as we already thought it was 100% non-reversible, 100% deadly, and coming within the next few years (actually many of the worst predictions are supposed to have already happened, in the past but don't seem to have actually done so)

If you thought any of that was the consensus then you are delusional because it never has been. The science is clear that man-made climate change is real and a danger to human civilization. It is already being felt all over the world. You can choose to be blind to it, but it is happening regardless of if you think it is or not.

What are all these insane and dumb comments? Climate Change is real and it is man-made people. If you haven't noticed the global average temperature has hit a new record every year in a row for the last 5 or 6 year. I would figure that people who work and are interested in computers and technology would also believe in science considering the technology they are interested in was created using it. I'm still shocked at the number of people who think it is some type of hoax.

Sony works hard to fuck things up. Sony Playstation Hack: They were told 3 months before by their security vendor to patch their servers and they didn't. SOE: Destroys Star Wars Galaxies - Way to go! So many bad movies and franchises screwed up. There was a time when Sony created formats and had some of the best music players and stereos out there. I think the only Sony product I own today is a pair of DJ headphones I've had for 10 years. They just aren't a compelling company anymore and haven't been for quite a long time.

It sounds like there were a ton of things that happened. Everything from poor flight control design, single sensor for a stall recovery system, poor oversight, regulatory mistakes, and pilot training that all contributed to the crashes. It doesn't make sense that at some point in the whole process no-one said "you know this is a bad idea to have a single sensor for a safety system that causes the plane to nosedive to avoid a stall." The fact that the FAA approved the plane with that design is appalling.

I first had Excite @home. They went bankrupt and sold it all to AT&T, which then sold it to Comcast. AT&T had the best customer service of the 3. Comcast had the fastest speeds and reliability, but was the most expensive and has the worst support on the planet. Expect to waste 1 to 6 hours on the phone trying to get something simple fixed. When something goes wrong with your connection you'll take weeks working with them to resolve it. I've on Cable One now. Great speeds most of the time. Usually reliable though recently they've been having some issues. Great price! ($55 for 100mbit no taxes/fees. The bill is actually $55). I've never really used their customer service though. Anytime I've had issues I've called and the automated system said they were having problems in my area and I hung up and awhile later it would be fixed. I have heard it's not great though.

What happened here is not new and will happen again and again. These 'new' companies are making the exact same mistakes as the previous ones. That paperwork is because of messups like this.

Exactly! HR is typically there to protect the company. While it is often in their best interest to protect employees (i.e avoiding lawsuits) that really is secondary and when there is a conflict it's the employee that will lose.

Some unions are worthless. There are many that are corrupt. I was a member of a teaching union and watched how they threw adjuncts under the bus to help tenures who only made up 25% of their membership. Their main goal seemed to be to create conflict between the faculty and administration. They would support you if you ever had an issue with administration but pretty much not in any other way.
