I was sitting on ground 0, so yes. They gave me the option of "6 month retention", so I don't know what happens next.

  • 700 is a lot of layoffs, and traditionally Cisco is reluctant to let people go.

The article I read said the bigger target was 2000.

I hope you didn't get laid off too. Best of luck to you.

  • Did you get axed as part of that?

Just about everyone on the floor of the building I was working on got laid off. I think we were ground zero. From my perspective, it was a blood bath.

What's worse is that this was not a normal lay off where they laid off portions of teams. They laid off entire teams.

I know that CSCO has climbed back above $20, but considering *who* was laid off, this might be a good time to sell.

And to answer your question, yes.

  • I think it was the 1930s humorist Will Rogers who said "a recession is when your neighbor is laid off. A depression is when you are."

But I agree, news of Cisco layoffs is indeed "news for nerds." Far more than than the one last week about MSM sites being swamped when Michale Jackson died. Speaking of which,

Farah Fawcett dies and goes to heaven. St Peter says "you're granted one final wish before you enter the gates."

Fawcett says "I just want all the children to be safe".

So St Peter kills Michael Jackson.

The best laid plans of mice and men are held up in the legal department.
