It is a neat trick. I'm not sure where you get the "similar performance" bit, but I expect to see a full-speed Wii emulator on the PS3 within 18-24 months. And the RSX doesn't have anything to do with the success of the emulation, it just does what the Cell tells it to. So, provided the emu software is ironed out enough, all will work nicely.
