FreeNAS Switching From FreeBSD To Debian Linux 206

dnaumov writes "FreeNAS, a popular, free NAS solution, is moving away from using FreeBSD as its underlying core OS and switching to Debian Linux. Version 0.8 of FreeNAS as well as all further releases are going to be based on Linux, while the FreeBSD-based 0.7 branch of FreeNAS is going into maintenance-only mode, according to main developer Volker Theile. A discussion about the switch, including comments from the developers, can be found on the FreeNAS SourceForge discussion forum. Some users applaud the change, which promises improved hardware compatibility, while others voice concerns regarding the future of their existing setups and lack of ZFS support in Linux."

20 miles above is not in space. It is just over the tropopause, where the wheather is made. Biggest clouds can reach to 8 miles above. Intercontinental flights know it and fly about ten miles high.

When you reach 100 miles, we could talk about space again. ;-)

The announcement was made to the Daily Telegraph initially — saying that it will completely remove the offending clause from the Coroners and Justice Bill. The effect of this clause was reported earlier on Slashdot.

Collided Satellite Debris Coming Down? 155

Jamie found this Bad Astronomy blog on the many reports beginning about 7 hours ago of one or more fireballs in the sky across Texas. That blog's proprietor first doubted that the phenomena could be due to the satellites that collided in orbit last week, but later left the possibility open. The National Weather Service for Jackson, KY put out an announcement about possible explosions and earthquakes across the area and blamed the defunct satellites. "These pieces of debris have been causing sonic booms...resulting in the vibrations being felt by some residents...as well as flashes of light across the sky. The cloud of debris is likely the result of the recent in orbit collision of two satellites on Tuesday...February 10th when Kosmos 2251 crashed into Iridium 33." An Austin TV station has more reports.

A slow bullet, so the enemy would not need a special armor or suit. The bullet will need about ten seconds for the way from the rifle to the target. It doesn't matter how near or far the target is. Ten seconds is programmed into the bullet, so anybody has plenty of time to get out of the way, if he or she don't want to get hit. I'll get rich!!!
