Comment A WARNING against self-driving cars (Score 2) 69
- It is foreseeable that a car company would need verbose logging on EVs since that engine type is still in its relative infancy. With self-driving cars, manufacturers MUST retain all data for a vehicle since THEY are responsible if the software fails and involves the car in an accident.
- You won't, and honestly cannot, actually OWN a self-driving car, since someone else's legally binding work - the software code - will be piloting the vehicle.
- I honestly believe that self-driving vehicles should be outlawed due to the legal nightmare they inherently represent. And they ought to make EV data exist under US-HIPAA and EU-GDPR laws for privacy. Otherwise, owners of EVs even now don't really OWN their cars with this much private data being gathered and retained only to be stolen later.
