Comment A WARNING against self-driving cars (Score 2) 69

  1. It is foreseeable that a car company would need verbose logging on EVs since that engine type is still in its relative infancy. With self-driving cars, manufacturers MUST retain all data for a vehicle since THEY are responsible if the software fails and involves the car in an accident.
  2. You won't, and honestly cannot, actually OWN a self-driving car, since someone else's legally binding work - the software code - will be piloting the vehicle.
  3. I honestly believe that self-driving vehicles should be outlawed due to the legal nightmare they inherently represent. And they ought to make EV data exist under US-HIPAA and EU-GDPR laws for privacy. Otherwise, owners of EVs even now don't really OWN their cars with this much private data being gathered and retained only to be stolen later.

This is probably a stupid question/comment.

They made cars 5-10 years ago that didn’t have so many chips in them even though they had less “features.” Why don’t they just go back and produce cars designs again that are six or seven years old but didn’t have so many chips for the next couple of years?

They know all of they suppliers they used then 5-10 years ago and know all the engineering diagrams — why don’t they just produce “chip light” car designs for the next couple of years cars? They probably have all the designs for panel stamping also. Just go back in the older version of the cars for a couple years and then they can just go back to chip heavy designs once capacity is back or we can make the chips in the US?

I was wondering how long it would take for the inevitable CCP apologist to appear. EVERY Chinese related post seems to have an immediate apologist for the Party come on /. and explain how the US is just as bad, or worse in a completely different or arcane way.

To quote an article on SpaceX, âoe Usually, when the rocket second stage â" the smaller, upper part of the Falcon9 rocket â" completes its task, the stage is manually destroyed. Its not particularly clever to try to hide neo-Marxism under the mantel of racism. Marxism is Marxism whether you are named Xi, Castro, Kim, or Billy Joe Jim Bob. Our American bred neo-Marxists here in the US hide their totalitarian march under the facade of âoepublic health and safety,â critical race theory, gender theory, and other modes of class warfare and identity politics. Itâ(TM)s not terribly clever, and people are on to you.
