Phoenix666 writes: Open source project Ushahidi is back in the news, this time processing real-time reports from Haiti submitted by SMS/mobile pics/mobile video and web to identify urgent needs on the ground and disseminate critical official information (where to get medical care, food & water, shelter, etc.) back to people with cell phones on the ground. They partnered with Haiti's cellular provider Digicell to be able to send official updates back to its subscribers. In the chaos following disasters, can Ushahidi be the tool to guide help to where it's needed?
