Yup, without humans in the loop doing sanity checks, uncorrected errors can have huge impacts. But this also raises the issue of how people leave detention, what the State does when this happens. etc. Poorly used AI, and poorly designed/run state bureaucracy!

Letters used to be delivered in parts of London multiple times a day. They're complaining about falling delivery standards, and the amount of money wasted. It's a stream of consciousness style of writing, but I could follow it. I often write like that when I'm really angry/tired/etc.

Exactly, the example from the main article about the 50 year old who paid the phantom missing funds back out of their own saves, plus sixty three thousand pounds from their parent's savings and then stepped in front of a bus, that person was ruined by the people at the Post Office, Fujitsu, and the lawyers who lied in layers so that one person would face a court case when they didn't steal that money.

It's terrible that so many people were so selfish and thousands of lives were damaged or ruined as an outcome.

Smart Game Devs could design eternity patches as part of the original design (to avoid having to reverse-engineer old code years later) and update/implement it when the standard support ends. And of course games should be advertised as such.
Dune Awakening for example has a lot of single-player content in Hagga Basin and even the Deep Desert (not to mention player-run servers already exist), so a post-support life sounds quite possible.

Has there been any report on how/why they were found to be not contributing value? Because there are endless news stories of major update failures, likely stemming from funding increases in one bill, but reductions in another bill. So everyone agrees there's a major IT problem within the IRS, but no one has put in the effort/funding to fix them long-term.
