Backround : I am a 41 year old former ER nurse. About 2 years ago, after losing my father to lung cancer from smoking, I began to re-evaluate my life. I was over 450 lbs, I smoked 2 packs a day, I had poorly controlled diabetes, and high blood pressure. I could not walk 10 feet without getting out of breath. I had three young sons who I thought I would never see get out of high school. I knew I had to make a change.
After trying many diets, eating plans, deal a meals, medications, all without success, I decided to investigate Weight Loss Surgery (WLS). The screening process was long and laborous. I was forced to re-evaluate many aspects of my life. I won't bore you with the details, they are on my poor excuse for a website that is linked here.
Today 10 months after surgery, I weigh 285 pounds, I have not had a cigarette in 2 years. I walk 2 -3 miles a day, just because I feel better. This procedure saved my life. For the first time I can remember I look forward to growing old. I can imagine myself retiring from work, instead of dropping dead at work.
To say my life has improved is an understatement. If you or someone you love is morbidly obese (Not just fat). And you want some help, please investigate Weight loss surgery.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am a nurse, and a patient, so I have a great perspective.
