Noryungi's Journal: Intel is starting to piss me off...

Please read this post by Theo de Raadt on the reaction of Intel to the (polite) requests to be able to re-distribute the Intel firmware with OpenBSD Wifi drivers.

I just don't understand how a hardware manufacturer can be so dumb. If I was to buy an Intel-based wifi-enabled computer tomorrow, I would not be able to use the Wifi card under OpenBSD. That would make that functionality dead in the water.

If you read this, Intel, you have to know this: you are losing sales. Big time. Because not just OpenBSD, but a lot of Linux distributors are going to be pissed off by your idiotic attitude. Shame on SuSE and Mandriva for signing freedom-limiting agreements with Intel. Shame on Intel for pissing on the open-source community.
