scottbomb writes: This is perhaps the best op-ed I've read about the whole SOPA/PIPA controversy. The author challenges Hollywood to re-think their entire business model. It will undoubtedly fall on deaf ears, for now. But sooner or later, they will have no choice but to adapt.

Though it maybe a while before it's actually rolled out to the phones. In an attempt to explain why it takes so long, Motorola and Sony Ericsson shed some light on the process involved. Motorola described the long testing process involved where as Sony explained the issue with the time consuming certification process.

Skype recently rolled out a new set of APIs for integration into other desktop applications, but they have issued multiple DMCA takedown notices to a researcher publishing open-source code to send Skype messages.

jfruhlinger writes: "Nokia's announcement that it was developing a Linux distro for low-end smartphones, shortly after abandoning the Linux-based Meego OS for Windows Phone 7, was a little puzzling. But it actually makes good business sense in the smartphone world. While WP7 aims for the high end, there's a market for cheaper and less complex phones that still beat boring old feature phones, especially in emerging economies. And, unlike Symbian and the heavily tweaked Meego, Linux can be quickly and cheaply brought to market as a low-end smartphone OS."

More information on Buidling Windows 8 blog from Gabe Aul, director of program management in Windows. There is video as well on the blog which shows windows starting up in less than 10 seconds.
