Actually, ctrl+_ works in places like bash and readline programs...

Rather than trying to understand what is broken in the programmable completion in bash (at least my version) I just wanted to disable it. A quick glance on man bash was of little help, but I search-engined it : the answer is

complete -r

What a relief !

The best part about having kids is having a socially acceptable excuse to act like them :)
