Journal Marxist Hacker 42's Journal: US Finally deploys effective robotic border control 24

And, for those of you who think border control is more about racism than National Security, I'd like to point out that this system is being deployed on the CANADIAN border, not the MEXICAN one, though I'm sure the Mexican border is not far behind.

According to The Register, the US Air Force has now tested GPS-enabled Smart Bombs for The Reaper at China Lake- and will soon be deploying them for border control on the Canadian border. Former versions of the Predator-B aircraft used laser or radar guided missiles- not very efficient for a border often covered in fog, rain, and snow. This new form would allow you to hit smugglers coming across the border in all types of weather- even if you only have a brief sighting of them. It would allow you to hit Iranian troops coming across the Iraqi border in a desert sandstorm. It raises the possibility of a new type of armed weapons inspector that I predicted should be used several years ago before the Iraq war- one armed only with a GPS unit combined witha laser range finder, a compass, and a radio, as this system should be easy to adapt to a cruise missile.

The age of the "unenforceable" border and the need for people on the battlefield is over, folks. Anything you can get accurate GPS III co-ordinates for, can be hit from *anywhere* else in the world.

US Finally deploys effective robotic border control

  • ...it works both ways. Keep folks you don't want out..it can also be used to keep folks *in*.

Personally, I think a much more effective illegal alien control measure would be to use the ten grand a head fines they have for employers who hire illegal aliens.

That and put pressure on a few nations fatcats to control their own folks better and cut loose with some living wages so they don't feel any need to go move someplace else.
    • Oh, I completely agree- but I rather doubt EITHER of the major parties will be doing that one. At least we won't have park rangers dying because they got into a gun battle with a smuggler anymore.
    • Is Bruce updating Technocrat today? Server seems to be down..
      • I imagine he is moving the site to the new software, complete with sheets of style and other sorts of stuff I probably won't see because I surf mostly with images and javascript off. I tried it a few times during the beta testing and couldn't get it to work very well, hopefully it has been tweaked a little bit more. I know right off the bat I can't deal with tiny form input windows, I read chunks of paragraphs, not individual syllables. I was reading newspapers starting at 4 years old (not fast or really un
        • Actually, I only have one kid- but yes, I still have the coins. Leaving them in the desk until Christopher's old enough to understand. Might give the other two to nephews- so that they can see that real money was once physical. By the time they grow up, money will be *entirely* an imaginary, software-based concept, if it exists at all.

Ah, Technocrat. net!! I recall you accepted my submission. I was really glad, though the site was shut down soon after that.

It is up and running fine. Sometimes there are glitches but it is still an active board.
    • ...put pressure on a few nations fatcats to control their own folks better...

:-) That's why we prop those fatcats up. To control those folks and force them to work for almost nothing. And it's the manner in which they do it that drives them across the border. We have to keep their wages down so we can enjoy some of that cheap labor from people who can't stand up for their rights due to their "legal" status. I can guarantee you that they would much rather stay at home with their families and catch some "nov
      • that's what they were invented for, social rearranging once things become just intolerable. The VW beetle of rifles.

I don't care where it is, throw a dart at a globe, you'll find some nation with some fatcat goons exploiting their people so they can be billionaires. That's the 90s and the 00s for you, none of them ultra rich tards is content to be a mere millionaire now, they all got to be billionaires, and the only way to do that is to take money from other people in some allegedly "legal" manner.

        So ya, th
      • EXACTLY. To me, what we should really do is invade Mexico and take away the soverignity of those fat cats. But that won't happen- until we get rid of our own fat cats.
        • But we don't need to invade. Just stop propping them up. They will fall on their own. Let's wait until the people ask for our help. You can bet they would if they had any reason to trust us. But now the sale of contraband (weapons, drugs*, and people, etc.) is really the only thing keeping keeping many governments, including the US, afloat.

*The border violence will end overnight with the abolishment of prohibition. Those cartels will disappear. Dealing with the weapons issue is a bit more complex. We need a
          • We also need to deal with the lies told about the United States worldwide. This is NOT the land of opportunity, gold streets, and free money. This is the land of violence, corruption, and oppression. Just like everywhere else.
            • Well, it is the land of opportunity and all those other things for some criminal organizations... mostly the arms dealers who foment war for profit and other well entrenched industries like energy and transportation. But it is very unfriendly to new technology that threatens their business practices. But... it still looks really nice for the most part...some of the prettiest territory and most beautiful towns and cities on the planet. Such is life inside the walled garden. It's nice to be able to drive for
              • The day we had to rely on *anybody* else's help, whether immigrants or foreign trade, to survive, was the day we hit bottom. All else is just fakery based on credit and banking con jobs. If your country is not self sufficient, it's not a country, it's just a slave to special interests.
  • are the same thing. Discrimination based on place of birth is no different than that based on skin color or gender, etc. Borders are the tools of slave traders and pirates. Designed to foment hate and violence to justify the existence of the authoritarians' iron fist, and of course, to generate great profits, and is really nothing more than normal, natural forces at play. Human evolution cannot continue while these desires are so prevalent. We have hit the wall.

Completely agreed- but what you're forgetting is that EVERYTHING we have past caveman stage is created by slave traders and pirates- EVERYBODY'S ancestry is thus.

Designed to foment hate and violence to justify the existence of the authoritarians' iron fist, and of course, to generate great profits, and is really nothing more than norm
      • It's unnatural forces and desires that are anti-evolutionary.

There really is no such thing as "unnatural". No matter what we do, it must be considered as natural. I don't know how to elaborate any further. I don't know where to look to back up that thought, but I'm very confident that somebody has spelled it out quite clearly. All I can say is that nature is absolute. It cannot be defied. It is impossible to do so. It is god. Whether we stagnate or continue to progress and evolve doesn't matter. It's still

That's because you've spent so much time living in "civilization" that you don't understand survival of the fittest and nature. That which encourages the strongest DNA to survive is natural. That which supports weak DNA to survive despite the natural environment is unnatural. Clothes, houses, being able to travel further than you can walk. All of these are unn

Oh come on. I don't see you living out in the woods in a lean-to built from mud and leaves, eating twigs and berries. In fact your situation indicates that you are more dependent on "civilization" than I am. I am fully aware of what DNA wants and needs. There's nothing unnatural about manipulating your environment to survive. Every animal does it. They all build nests, shelters, wha
            • Hopefully I'll be back for a while- though I'm going to be MUCH more careful at work from now on now that I understand that other people *don't* understand the importance of community to software engineering.

I thought some of your ideas were totally whack,

I think many people might think so. Just superficially his idea contains mutual inconsistency, so it's hard to understand his idea consistently from ordinary judgement.

But remember any new idea was produced from a state of disorder first. People cannot differ one from the other first when many things were mixed together. We need to be very careful when we deal with superficially inconsistent matters. Many matters we assumed unrelated first are often subject to
  • It is no strange if America had 500 -600 million popultion when we consider its size and resources. I hope bots won't harm any humans. I think it's just fine for robots to be used to prevent smugglings.
