Journal Marxist Hacker 42's Journal: A few strong, angry, ARMED lefties 10

KPOJ, my local AirAmerica Affiliate has a guy by the name of Ed Schultz out of Fargo, ND on the air in the afternoons. I believe he, and Randi Rhodes in Florida, represent the new face of Democrat talk radio. Both are around my age (as Randi puts it- she's from the "Big Hair and Bad Music 80s"). Neither can be described as a peace loving hippie- far from it. Randi served in the Air Force, Ed describes himself a "Meat Eatin' Gun Totin' SUV Drivin' liberal". If the Democrats are going to survive until 2008 on hate- they're going to need people like this. Better yet- it's people like this who will with their hate inspire the next civil war in America. Long overdue.

  • I guess when I picture a civil war I think of mobs running through the streets shooting each other (Democrats in blue, Republicans in shoot-me-in-the-back red). On that basis I am not too keen on the whole idea :-) However, if we are talking a bloodless (more or less) civil war this sounds better, but I don't know how it would happen (internet maybe? Fixed election by manipulating votes?) I wonder how America would have reacted if a third party candidate had won by a landslide, and there was no way to verif
    • I'm hoping that the Canadian parlament will approve the blue states' petition for annexation. Since federal tax dollar flow, on balance, from blue to red states, Canada can simply charge us the existing premium for a few years to make it worth their while.

If the red states start getting jealous, they can petition Mexico to annex them.

      • As a Canadian, sorry man. We wouldn't. Ever. The rest of the world gets enough shit on it because of your country's infighting. Last thing another country needs to do is get involved. Sorry.

It is funny though. Americans think that Canadians think like Democrats. The average American Democrat would probably feel at home on Canada's extreme right. Like fringe extreme lunatic right. Our slightly right of centre party is called "The Liberals". (And, by the way, that is how you spell "centre".) We hav
        • Oh, come on, we'd give you San Louis Obisbo for your new capital. Or Gilroy, Garlic Capitol of the World and State Capitol of the United Canadian territories. Please?
          • Canada actually moved the capitol to Ottawa so it would be FURTHER from the US. (Seriously.) Last thing we need to do is move it INTO the US. Maybe if we move it to Thunder Bay or Iqaluit and make Inuktitut a third national official language you guys will get the hint.
    • Yeah, somehow I can't envision a civil war along the lines of the American Civil War. Instead I imagine something very disorganized (small protests, walk-outs, strikes, etc.) building into a full-fledged revolt. I don't think the "hot" issues, like abortion and gay marriage, are going to be the breaking point. Liberals may get worked up over these issues, but most recognize that they aren't life-, or liberty-, threatening. Instead, leading up to such a civil war would be minor things, like curfews, exce

      • I really doubt the armies would be Republican vs. Democrat

Exactly. Anybody who is looking for the Democrats to lead the revolution is barking up the wrong tree. They're just as entrenched as any other power structure. The revolution will not be televised. (Actually, it probably will.)

I doubt strongly this one will be that organized- more along the lines of individual guerilla groups (state millitias?) vs the feds in blue. But I agree- I'm not terribly keen on the idea, it's just where I see us naturally heading as anger and fear instead of ideology and issues become the nor
