Comment Re:The "record" only goes back 75 years (Score 1) 75

I feel you must have missed the first part of my rather short post where it says "According to the actual report, the data only goes back to 1950" I'm not saying there isn't any useful data going back further than that, just that they are saying this June was the "hottest on record" but the "record" they are using only goes back to 1950. If they had said it was the "hottest since 1950" I'd have no problem with it. The fact that they aren't going further back than that makes their claim of it being the hottest on record rather suspect. They could have gone back further, but didn't. Why not? Is it because of an assumption that it was never hotter before 1950 or was it because if they had gone back more it would no longer be the hottest on record and that wouldn't make much of a story? Or even some other reason. They didn't say they used that year as the baseline.

The bottom half is an exact visual copy of the top, which is for your own record. It contains your e-voting number assigned by the system and the list of candidates you chose. ... Third, you have a visually verifiable record of the manaul count ballot for yourself that you can

A) take home
B) submit to 3rd party independent vote trackers

C) give to your boss/union leader/vote buyer/abusive spouse/etc to prove who you voted for so that you can be paid or keep your job, etc.

When you walk out that door, you shouldn't have anything with you that shows who you voted for. A private vote MUST be exactly that- private. It's only one step away from the government goon at the door asking to see your paper... "to verify that your vote was properly registered" and see whether you voted for his boss or the other guy.

It can only lead to intimidation, coercion, and vote selling. Sorry, but it's just not a good idea.
