I received this jewel in my Yahoo account this morning (emphasis mine):

Yahoo's filters are pretty good, but it looks like that last sentence got them though. :-)

I'm getting a lot of that in my email as well. I think it's being done to get past the Bayesian (sp?) filters but adding words that wouldn't trigger a spam response.

I've seen a couple too; I don't think they'd get the spam past a proper Bayesian filter, but a crude grammar-based filter would be fooled. (This way, the spam has no 'spam keywords' which flag it as spam, and it has genuine words or sentence fragments which make it look like 'real' mail, unlike the majority of spam which simply uses one huge

Its time to fix email

Someday soon, some one is going to realize that Internet email is based on a flawed assumption: that people can be trusted be behave in a civilized manner. In the good old days of the Internet, before commerce was openly allowed, people were more civilized because they could be kicked off and there was very little financial incentive for ticking off lots of people.
